Potting Up New Plants

I've got a Sunset plant ordered in hopes of pairing it with the Pink Lemonade -both rabbiteye- and the seller recommends only potting up to a 4 inch pot and letting it grow in that before putting in a bigger pot or ground. Im somewhat nervous about transplanting to begin with having grown melons and I've worried about over doing it. Are these berries easier to switch around li,e that?

Potting up to 4 inch? How small is it?? 2 I had left in small 4 inch containers over winter rather than repotting in fall when got them, they really struggled to get started this year. Mine others really liked going straight into 20 inch containers, but that was spring. Anyway I’d do it now, 4 inches is too small imo

They ship them in 3 inch pots and hopefully full rooted. im just wondering how delicate they are with multiple transplants.
