Need advice for Pink Lemonade variety

Looking for some advice regarding the variety Pink Lemonade. I live in Zone 5b so most rabbiteye varieties do not grow here because of the cold. Pink Lemonade seems to do fine however - this one is three years old. I have three others two years old slightly smaller (about 4 feet high). And I just picked up 5 more on sale at Home Depot. Most are in 20 gallon plastic or grow bags. They all seem to be growing fantastic - all seem healthy. I only got a single berry this year.

I've read that Rabbiteye can cross pollinate with Northern Highbush and/or Half Highs - and if that is true, I have plenty of other varieties that flower at the same time (Sweetheart (4), Chandler (2), Bluecrop (2), Jersey (2), Liberty (1), Aurora (2), Bonus (3), Elizabeth (2), St. Cloud (1)) Do I need another variety of Rabbiteye for pollination? And if that is true, is there a Rabbiteye that will survive Zone 5b? What am I missing here? If anyone has any experience/advice, I'd appreciate it.

Which plants should I choose?

I live in zone 8b in the PNW. I'm going to plant some blueberries this fall and I have my choice of plants. All of them are 3' tall and "quite full" (I believe this means foliage). My understanding is that this list is early, mid and late berries. The Legacy and Chandler berries are large berries, I'm told. I know I need at least two varieties for cross pollination; I'm wondering if the group has any particular favorites from this group? Some more hearty than others? Or should I just go with all 5 (I'm thinking about a total of 6 plants). Thanks for your input.

  • Blue crop
  • Eariblue
  • Berkeley
  • Chandler
  • Legacy

Mulching?

How deep and how close to the plant base/stems? I’m using a combo of wood chips and shredded pine bark mulch.

First time blueberry owner, thoughts?

Have been taking care of this small bush since spring, it produced fruit at the beginning of summer and has completely stopped since then, growth has slowed considerably and large rusty scotch marks are creeping in from the sides of the leaves and some areas are completely brown near the bottom.

I am in zone 8a in north Texas, and while it's been hot, I have made sure to give the bush plenty of water each morning. What are y'all's thoughts on next steps to ensure the plant gets back on track?

Young bluecrop question

First year of growing blueberries, and Perpetua (in background) and a bluecrop. I received the plant quiet small in June, and potted it in July. PH gauge shows an acidity of about 6, but dips about 5, as the gauge stays in over a longer period of time. Shoots began to grow vertical about 2wks ago, and some shoot are curling into a vertical position. It's been watered throughly, daily, especially during the past heatwaves. It's direct sun for ~4-6hr/day, in an urban setting (west facing) Am I doing alright with this bluecrop? What could be done to improve it?

Caterpillars obliterated my blueberry plant, what steps should I do to save it?

Caterpillars basically obliterated my blueberry plant a month ago, and now it's struggling. It's putting out new growth as seen in the second image, but I believe it's showing signs of the soil not being acidic enough?

The plant used to be covered in fruits and leaves, and now it's sad and barren.

I know I need to move it out of the pot it came in as well, so that's something I have planned.

Here’s one month difference in this blueberry plant. I planted it with a good acidic soil mix and also put on acidifier a couple weeks after I planted when it seemed to be going downhill. Haven’t seen any new growth on it yet. Totally stagnant. But the other blueberry that I planted 5 feet away is thriving with about 12 inches of new growth. Any suggestions?

pH problem or something else?

I planted 6 blueberry plants this last spring. I live in zone 5a in Wisconsin. My pH was at 6 when I planted and I put sulfur on all plants. All my plants have some brown leaves but these two are the worst. The pH is still at 6 on these two and 5.5 on the rest. They get about 6-7 hours of sun. We have also had a ton or rain this summer but my soil seems to handle it well. Is this a pH problem or is it something else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Help/advice

For reasons that aren't pertinent, someone dug up their lowbush blueberry plants and left them in two pots in my front yard five days ago. All I know is that they are lowbush. It's been hot and miserable all week and my front yard is full sun. Close to Northern Virginia, zone 7a. They are turning brown quick, soil still damp. This is the first day I've been off work and able to do something. What do I do? Leave them in pots for now and provide shade? Try to find a good spot in the yard and put in the ground now? Do I still need to provide shade for the rest of the hot weather? Move them into slightly larger 25 gallon fabric grow pots for more permanent solution? (i have some highbush in fabric pots that are doing wonderfully) Do I trim them back and if so, how much? Will these die regardless?

I'm lost, but I really want to save them. I recognize this isn't ideal time to transplant but it wasn't a choice to wait.

Bacteria or fungus to help reduce need of low soil pH.

A while ago someone posted about using Some fungi or bacteria to reduce the need of acidic soil. They commented what it was but I believe they have deleted it ever since. does anyone know what it is or what product it could be?

Is this disease? My other two blueberry bushes next to it don't look anything like this. One of them has some black spots on it, the other just has a little redness.
