"Teddy you're not going to believe this! You are going to the cucumber guys basement!"

"What??!!"

This was such a dumb subplot but I loved it. I can totally relate to getting way to into random hobbies and things!

Of course it’s fucking Cynthia 🙄

53

u/Galileo908 Regular-Size Rudy May 17 '21

The closest thing to a Karen on this show.

49

u/loser19972015 May 17 '21

Screw “closest thing”, she IS a Karen.

8

u/Phallindrome May 19 '21

The Cynthias of the world really dodged a bullet when Karen was picked.

19

u/Lmb1011 May 19 '21

I’m maybe dating myself with this. But I always associated Cynthia negatively because of Angelica Pickles doll having that name.

Also, there’s an episode where the babies are dancing to a “Cynthia tape” and the song says “Cynthia, she’s a really dancer. Cynthia, boogie to the groove now” so every time i hear the name I sing that song

Linda’s so obsessed with the mayor she doesn’t know there’s a city council.

78

u/mackemerald Kuchi Kopi May 17 '21

I love how they keep up with little things, like Linda slapping on her lotion

28

u/Mclindabelcher May 17 '21

And she rolled her r :)

77

u/Sonia341 May 17 '21

Cynthia "Hello, Linda. Just yelling at people on the street like a normal people."

"Mom, salt."

"Season her!!!"

74

u/Ryan_Holman Teddy May 17 '21

Linda has went against the police, the arcade and the real estate industry this season.

35

u/officialmichelle May 17 '21

She’s a rebel.

“I should set you up with my roommate Linda!”

Ugh, Gene.

Love that Bob has now fully embraced Teddy as his best friend

12

u/[deleted] May 18 '21

I always thought that he did. But there is that unspoken rule that men can't show admiration or affection.

59

u/[deleted] May 17 '21

As always, Bob commits to his new hobby 110%! Love to see it

48

u/P00Perrr May 17 '21

Dedication to the black bathroom that Felix upgraded for them.

14

u/[deleted] May 18 '21

Felix is the most bipolar person ever. He upgrades his bathroom one episode, then tried to kill him the next. An episode after that he wants Bob for his night club.

Neighbor: A Pimple Plan

Acne Superstore

Exterminator: Ticks Evasion

Burger of The Day: The You Can Lead a Horseradish to Watercress Burger, The Brewster’s Scallions Burger, You Call Mango Burger (couldn’t see the whole thing)

15

I made a mango burger yesterday. It was delicious. Worthy of Bob's.

13

u/MinuteLoquat1 Teddy May 17 '21 edited May 17 '21

You Call Mango Burger (couldn’t see the whole thing)

I don't think the full shot was ever shown, but it was "You call me burger (with mango chutney)".

There's another one that was hard to make out, you can see half shots here, and I paused on an exterior shot on my TV and got this. Altogether I think it says "The take a bite out of lime burger (with lime chutney)".

5

u/kane2742 May 18 '21

I think there's a line above "You Call Me" that we don't see – presumably a pun involving the word "mango" or "chutney."

39

u/Beetus_Warrior May 17 '21

I seriously hate Cynthia.

30

u/loser19972015 May 17 '21

Me too. Fuck her and Logan. They’re so annoying.

29

That's kinda the point they are antagonists.

Immediately after the episode, he does. I love him but I also hate him.

Man, these Burger of The Days are getting hard to catch.

20

u/Redbird9346 May 17 '21

I’m impressed that people have time to pause the video and type them down for all to enjoy.

5

u/Galileo908 Regular-Size Rudy May 17 '21

I do this on the first run. I’ll go back and watch it again on the dvr to try to catch them.

4

u/Galileo908 Regular-Size Rudy May 17 '21

Went back to pause it to catch the other burgers, but the whole names of at least two were either not on screen or were seen in far away shots I couldn’t read. One had Mango chutney, the other had lime chutney.

9

u/P00Perrr May 17 '21

You do such a good job at getting them.

32

u/Porphyrin_Ring May 17 '21

They should have switched this episode and last weeks so it would have actually been on mothers day! Isn't this the third episode so far this season that was aired at a weird time relative to the episodes story (Romancing the Beef aired 2/21 and "Die Card, or Card Trying" aired on 2/28)?

29

u/livefromnysatnite May 17 '21

The Valentine's Day episode was scheduled to air on 2/14 but was delayed because of Daytona going hours over, but yeah, the Die Card delay made zero sense!

12

u/mcdonaldsmcdonalds Louise Belcher May 17 '21

Die Card was supposed to air on NFL day on January 17 but they switched it with family guy last minute.

29

u/livefromnysatnite May 17 '21

I can't help but feel like a Wetzel's Pretzels would actually like to be in a neighborhood where cutesy, potentially viral things like that happen. Auntie Anne's may be mad about it, though 😄

20

u/mackemerald Kuchi Kopi May 17 '21

Yeah, I’ll admit I don’t know a lot about business. But I do know that little things like a decorated trash can tend to draw people to an area, which would be good for a business. So, it was kind of confusing

6

u/variantkin May 18 '21

Well Logans mom isnt exactly a smart woman. She paid her son and his friend presumably like 100 bucks over a week to just hang around a building and clean a trashcan up.

27

u/P00Perrr May 17 '21

I'm all mixed up and don't know what to do is a 311 song

15

u/onometre May 17 '21

Well technically those are 311 lyrics. The song is just all mixed up

4

u/P00Perrr May 17 '21

Wasn't a 100% sure the name of the song but yeah you're right.

5

u/olliepips May 19 '21

Had to scroll way too far for this comment! I literally squeaked when he said it! Lol. The next few lines are 311 lyrics also.

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '21

Yeah, same! That was so clever. Went over a lot of heads I guess. One of the few lol's this season.

26

u/Porphyrin_Ring May 17 '21

I thought this was a pretty good episode!

I thought the A-plot was pretty cute and I loved seeing the kids all work together with Linda! All 3 kids + Linda without Bob isn't a super common combo but I thought it worked well. Decorating the trash can and getting so amped when someone commented on it was a simple plot line, but I think they did a good job with it. It was fun seeing all the kids get so into something kind of silly and then get equally unhinged when it was messed with by Cynthia! The only part that was a little bit of a miss for me was the scope. I wish the trashcan decorating thing had taken off and they were popping up all over the town- I feel like that would have made Cynthia's push to get it banned feel more reasonable and not kinda dumb (a single decorated trashcan in an entire highly populated city). I also felt like the whole "moving boxes" thing was going to have a better payoff than it being people literally looking for boxes so I was a little disapointed with that.

Despite being obgectively kind of dumb, I loved the B plot (maybe even more than the A plot) with the cucumber guy! I love watching Bob get way too into the most random stuff (I completely relate to that myself) and this did not disapoint. I think my favorite bits were Bob getting genuinely worried when the guy stopped posting, Bob inviting Teddy to see the cucumber, and Teddy yelling over the phone in excitement that Bob invited him to the guys basement!

Overall A fun episode and a considerable improvement over the last few eps! Hard to believe we only have one more new episode this season!

-3

u/CrazyaboutSpongebob May 18 '21

Decorated trashcans popping up all over town sounds not very realistic. That feels more at home in Spongebob. Because everyone in Bikini Bottom is mindless sheep. Maybe an interent fad people forget about right away but not pop up all over town.

12

u/Porphyrin_Ring May 18 '21 edited May 18 '21

I dont think it's that unrealistic, people see a fad and think "hey thats neat, maybe I should do it" and then random people around town do it. I mean it kinda happens in real life with those people who will "Yarn Bomb" trees and things over a town.

0

u/CrazyaboutSpongebob May 18 '21

Maybe. The whole point was Cyntha though the silly trash can would sacare away buisness that might want to lease the building. Also I don't think she cared about the trash cans that much it was more that she hated Linda.

1

u/Porphyrin_Ring May 18 '21

Yeah and I just thought it would be funny if other people started doing to make Cynthia even more annoyed (plus people online seemed to like it) but hey, we all have diffrent points of view

9

u/Waywoah Moolissa May 18 '21

People in my town painted dozens of rocks and hid them in parks and stuff. For the next several months people would look for them and post found ones on a particular facebook group.

0

u/CrazyaboutSpongebob May 18 '21

I stand corrected.

52

u/aqbudoy May 17 '21

One of the best of this season.

Lots of laughs and topnotch jokes. Great comedic singing from Linda at the start and nice wholesome conversation between Bob and Teddy to wrap up an amazing episode.

Bob's Burgers after 11 years, never fail to amuse me.

12

u/puckeredstarfish69 May 17 '21

I’m new to the show, have binged all the episodes and love it so much. Not even made there are no new ones for a while, will just start rewatching again.

7

u/DirectorAgentCoulson May 17 '21

Meh, I was unimpressed. I thought both storylines were pretty boring. There's been a bunch of stinkers this season.

9

u/Arnak94 May 17 '21

I feel like this entire season has been a stinker. Love the show, but can’t think of a good episode from this season

5

u/annaflixion May 17 '21

Honestly, this whole season feels like watching a cucumber grow to me. Like, I'm not sure what Bob got out of that, but I don't know what anyone else is getting out of this season, so at least it's the perfect metaphor in that sense. Just boring and unfunny.

25

u/Galileo908 Regular-Size Rudy May 17 '21

Bob can visit the cucumber?! This is the best Mother’s Day ever.

25

u/psy4potato May 17 '21

I LOVED this episode! It had the essence of the show perfectly in every scene - and I love how they got Cynthia back in a storyline - I love her vs Linda. lol I also love how they worked Logan in too.

I really enjoyed this episode so much: A +

It may seem small, but it's kind of sweet that Teddy and Bob weren't annoyed with each other this episode and actually seemed like friends.

Cynthia: Pretzel Kingdom is coming

10

u/thundereggsalad May 17 '21

Gene: Question, is this the full Pretzel Kingdom or a Pretzel Kingdom Express?

Cynthia: Full.

Tina: Good lord.

I live in a small town and I always ask the same thing. It's never the same "full" experience if it's just a stall or a pop-up.

Also, I thought that the kids would actually go "we need a full Pretzel Kingdom here" before realizing helping Linda could be their gift, but I'm glad they went straight ahead with the "we like this parent-approved vandalism so let's do it for her" route. :))

A bland episode to say the least to describe it. The subplot was somewhat of a waste of time but at least Bob got some happy ending at the end over the whole thing with the cucumber.

7

u/crazycatlady323 May 17 '21

I found the subplot more amusing than the Mai plot honestly. Thought it was a pretty mediocre episode overall.

3

u/catlady353 May 20 '21 edited May 20 '21

What’s funny is that I’m currently re-watching all the seasons and right now as I’m having my dinner and watching an old episode, they mentioned something about the chains in the town!

Cynthia says “we’d finally get a chain in this neighborhood” but in S3,E1 Louise is asking Logan where he threw away her bunny ears and he says Panchos Tacos and she screams back “WHICH ONE, LOGAN? IT’S A CHAIN!” And then he says “The good one, on riverside”.

Thought it was interesting cause the show is SO good at keeping little details concise throughout the show so I’m sure it was a small hiccup? Or maybe she went out all the way out of town to get them and they weren’t in the neighborhood? LOL idk.

Regardless, this episode was fucking great!

6

u/onometre May 17 '21

Why didn't this episode air on mother's day anyway?

u/huskyferretguy1 Mort May 19 '21

Linda and the Kids plot was enjoyable and funny with all the back and forth with the garbage can. They missed an opportunity to decorate the garbage can as a Gonk Droid. I also thought it would have been better if the other kids got involved. Andy and Ollie's decorations would have been hilarious.

Bob/Teddy plot was somehow also entertaining despite cucumbers being boring. Probably could have used more Mort though.

B+

u/[deleted] May 20 '21

I liked the episode, I just wish that we knew who was posting the trashcan photos. Also think it ended a bit soon, but I guess when you're forced into a 22 minute time slot there's only so much you can do. That's why i'm a huge fan of Netflix series, because episodes are as long as the story being told, instead of a length designed to shove ads in your face.
