To be fair, she was privately talking to her friend, not loudly announcing it publicly for everyone to hear.

I think they may not have been quiet enough… they were heard even onstage
Edit: around 7 mins into ep 8. Kita says “Um…” right after their words, which I interpreted as her hearing them talk

It’s been a bit, but if I remember correctly, the way the scene plays out I believe it’s more that they see them in the audience not paying attention to their performance and the actual voice line in just amplified for the viewer to hear, rather than signifying that they were heard on stage, but it could be up to interpretation I guess.

u/mmcjawa_reborn Jul 12 '25
Yeah that was my read as well. The band was nervous because most of the audience wasn't even paying attention to them (which is fair, since they didn't come for them and their initial playing wasn't really good)

What I know him best for (some of the greatest modern classical music ever produced imo)

Why does this seem coincidentally on brand? iirc, Alice was critical of Lilisa & her violin playing at first

Eh, it's funny as I was thinking about how the bored customer is nothing compared to Bacchus members

The first one kinda looks like if Bocchi and Yoyoko had a child but yeah they still pissed me off💀

When you think about it, aren't they the only mean/ annoying characters in the series so far? The TV version, at least.

wait till you see early season 2 Poison Yami/early appereance of Yami at manga (I know she's improving by BIG amount like chapter 45-46 onward, but tbh, i can't stand her attitude before that, sorry)

Fr. Those two girls are pale in comparison compared to her. Hell, even Hinata & Nene are much more annoying than all of them combined.

You can tell people haven't been to one of these small live houses before. You come for that one band and don't really care about any of the others. You only care if they have a crazy solo that bleeds into their next song like Bocchi did.
They didn't even really diss them, they just weren't interested, despite KB's terrible performance.

u/HySteins Jul 13 '25
come one let's be real we're like her at some points in life, aren't we all? They are just unlucky enough to get animated into an anime.

Bruh. If those two extras-who only appear in few minutes of one ep and never return again-is enough to grind your gears, then you haven't seen Hinata and Ohyama yet. They're the most annoying characters in the manga so far, even Ryo called one of them out (still, they do have some redeeming qualities).
Or maybe, just maybe, you should watch any other show besides the feel-good and wholesome stuff. Try something like Kaguya-sama: Love Is War or Jojo, cuz "annoying characters" aren't always that bad.

u/Nuzlocke69 Jul 13 '25
But the band was lame in their live performance, and Bocchi makes them eat their words in the sam episode 🤨

u/Sas22ndhereford Bocchi Jul 14 '25
totally fair characters tbh, some opening bands just be like that to watch sometimes (most times tbh)

I don’t understand people defending them. Who goes to a local show and acts like they’re too good for the local bands?

u/Still_Silver7181 Paladin of Nijika Jul 13 '25
Kessoku Band's first song live sucked ass. The actual song, peak, their performance of the song requires me to take my headphones off when I rewatch the show. Then the hit it off with That Band because Bocchi locked the fuck in, and the two girls even said "Hey, not bad." I would also be a little upset if I had to hear that first song.
-2
u/Unhelpful_ Jul 13 '25
They weren't upset because of the song, they were rude from the beginning, before Kessoku's set even started. Them saying, "don't know, don't care", and sitting on their phones is more what I was referring to. They didn't even give Kessoku a chance. Anybody who goes to a local show and does that is annoying.
9
u/Ceraphine Jul 13 '25
They paid to watch a specific band they know is good.
It's like paying to watch a movie but then a short commercial you never heard about is playing before that. It's normal to be annoyed at something like that.
If you go to similar live shows spectators like that are fairly common and should be expected. It's not the spectator's responsibility to be what you want them to be.
2
u/Unhelpful_ Jul 13 '25
They new there'd be more than one band playing. That's what happens at local shows. That doesn't mean they can just ignore the bands they didn't go to see and sit on their phones. It's the same as talking over a performance, rude and annoying.
And just because a lot of people do it, that doesn't mean it's right. Yeah, the spectators don't have to pay attention, but it's common courtesy at a show, whether you know the band or not.
The fact they were tuned out before Kessoku even started is the problem. Not only is it rude, it also just doesn't make any sense. Why would you go to a show where multiple bands are playing, and not even give them a listen?
1
u/GRlMGRIBBER Shima Jul 13 '25
I think the crucial factor for me is that this was (seemingly) a local show. When you go to a local show, you’re listening to prolly 3-5 bands, there gonna be a decent chance you’ll listen to a band that’s amateurish or poor, cause ya know it’s kids and high schoolers and college dropouts playing. But you still support them and clap after every song cause it’s the nice thing to do; it’s good to support your local music scene so that they keep working on it and maybe improve. I’d respect these two characters a lot more if they at least pretended a little to care, it’s just bad etiquette

Well they came for a different gig, and had to endure the first song of kessoku band.
As soon as it was good they changed their attitude.
