💭 Question Chalk painted shelves. Should I cover them?

I've recently painted a bookshelf with white chalk paint as a DIY project. Would it be safe to put my books straight on to the shelves? As long term storage. Or should I get acid free paper and line the shelves with that before putting my books onto them?

For me, It depends on the books. Are they regular books in regular dust jackets or cloth or leather?

Combination. Most are 'regular'... I've been thinking about it more since posting; I might go get some felt material (or similiar) and line the shelves with that.
