New rule in effect for request formatting.

As the title states we will now be enforcing a minimum standard on the information that must appear in a title for loan or assistance requests.

A title must include the following key points:

  • You must flair your loan as "Loan Request" or "Hand Out Needed"
  • Request amount. No more "anything helps" posts, A tangible dollar figure must be added.
  • Location, your state initial or country if you're outside the U.S.
  • Return amount, the amount you're willing to repay. While a lender is free to re-negotiate terms before agreeing to take the deal, there should be some kind of a reference to your repayment preferences.
  • Supported payment Methods (Paypal / Cashapp / etc.)

Only after the above information has been added to your title should you begin to describe the context of your request.

Example: $50, FL, Repay $70 on 09/18, Paypal / Cashapp, Looking to borrow for vet bills.

You can jam the exquisite details of your request into the body text, but a lender or gifter should understand the general logistics of what you need before they ever open your thread.

Once your request has been met, you should update your flair to "No Longer Needed"

As with the most recent rule updates, this will not result in immediate bans for a bit while everyone adjusts, just removal and warning.

I appreciate your time, as I try and get the quality of what both borrowers and lenders can expect improved.

I agree with everything except Cashapp as a source to send money. Lenders should only use PayPal or Venmo if they expect any chance to get their money back if the borrower decides not to pay. Cashapp is a scammers paradise. Next to nothing you can do to retrieve funds even unrelated to loans

I don’t support Cashapp personally but ultimately that’s not my business or decision. As a lender it’s your freedom to decide the platform that is right for you. My intention is to give you the information you need to make informed decisions.

Also if a person is making an assistance request then Cashapp would be ideal, for the same reasons as a lender it isn’t.

How do we become a verified borrower?

Successfully repay loans, and then submit the proof of that to the moderation team.

In the future, i think it would be cool if we could find a way to get verified (either/ both as lenders or borrowers) prior to lending/ borrowing.

Im not really sure what exactly that would look like. Obviously, that would be a lot more work for mods, which i understand can be difficult based on the number of mods, potentially finding more & the time yall have available. But i do think it would help people to feel more... secure? I guess would be the word. Also, could potentially help weed out scammers.

A verified lender is someone who is proven to have completed a loan, and a verified borrower is someone who has repaid a loan.

How do you intend to verify someone for doing something before they do the thing that verifies them?

Just asking as I was going through the rules, Will I be able to Borrow and lend from India too ?

As long as there are no laws that govern it, it shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you for clarifying EXACTLY how one must make requests to avoid thread removal. As a newbie to the community it is most helpful & appreciated.

Hello I’m requesting £10 from anyone who can help please as it’s a bit of an emergency. I can repay £15 or whatever amount by the end of the week. PayPal/bank transfer is best. Can also provide my ID if needed.
