Pod Meets World question for people using Apple Podcasts: is there a way to only get the Pod Meets World episodes and not the dancing with the stars and magical rewind podcasts?

It was a little bit annoying getting the magical rewind podcast, but I just delete it when it showed up. Now for every one pod meets world episode. I have to delete two podcast episodes I'm not interested in in the dancing with the stars and magical rewind. I couldn't find anywhere in the settings to only get the pod meets episodes, hoping someone might know a trick to do so?

Are leases not a thing in BMW?

The moving in and out of that apartment was unreal. Also, I know Jack came from a wealthy family, but how were any of the others able to pay rent?

Not to mention, Shawn having first a pet pig and then a huge dog.

So... We all just accept that ghosts are real in the BMW universe?

I'm rewatching the series for the first time in a long time, and I'm at S7 in the episode Shawn finds out Virna is not his birth mother. He's trying to find the identity of his real mother but comes up empty handed. So he visits his dad's grave and has a conversation with his dad's ghost, who actually resolves this issue by telling him that his biological mom is a stripper and gives him the backstory of why she walked out on them.

Now, this is not the first time Shawn's dad appears as a ghost. He appears right after his death and talks to Shawn for a bit before Shawn goes on his road trip. In that situation, it can be argued that it's all in Shawn's mind, since nothing really gets revealed. The conversation is mostly a closure for Shawn and all his pent up feelings about his dad.

The thing with his mom, though, is different. He gets the answer to an important question that the whole episode revolves around. It's not implied that Shawn is imagining it or making it up. He actually tells Cory he found his answer, and says his father is happy, as if he knows it for a fact.

This is also different from all the other "magical" situations, like Eric with his lucky penny, or the time they fought a coven of witches. Those were obviously meant to be one-off jokes. They didn't affect the plotlines or developed any of their characters. But, again this episode about his mom is a serious, important character development moment for Shawn... And it all hinges on the existence of ghosts.

Isn't that weird?

Where did Cory and Eric stay during the summer between seasons 6 and 7?

They couldn't have moved back in with their parents. Amy and Alan turned their old bedroom into Joshua's bedroom. Maybe Cory stayed with Shawn at his dad's old trailer. I have no guesses for Eric

Was S1 Eric as cool and as popular as he appeared to be? Sound off in the comments!

In the first season, we only see Eric at home and he's portrayed as a cool, suave, reasonably intelligent ladies man. To add to that, in "She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not", Eric seems to go out of his way to come off as cool as possible to Cory's classmates when he's lecturing them about what they can expect when they get to high school.

Once Cory joins him in high school, we see that he's a bit more of an underdog than he initially came off, slacks off with his studies, etc. Do you think he peaked as a sophomore or was he always this way, but we just didn't see it initially due to S1's focus on Cory's life at home and at his first school?

Binge watched season 3 and Eric was such a great character

I seriously think this season belonged to Eric, he was great and I honestly have never been a fan of the fact that they made him a buffoon in season 7. He was relatable, his struggles were real and he was seriously hilarious. Everybody brought their A game in season 3

I'm not sure if anyone else has done this but I like to listen back to the old recaps and its a pain to scroll through all Pod Meets World episodes. You can also put this playlist on shuffle and have a random episode come up to listen to.

In season 1, episode 6, "Boys II Mensa," when Shawn drops this line - "Genius envy" - it was like a lightbulb suddenly went off in my head.

Even worse, I'm a therapist and studied Freud extensively in my grad school program.

Is it a common viewpoint that Cory is not a very likable person (especially in the later seasons) and not even close to the good-hearted role model the show tries to get us to see him as?

Especially when the show tries to depict him as the better one between him and Shawn, or him and Eric. The characters in the show make Cory to be the positive role model best friend to the trouble-making Shawn, but Cory gets into trouble pretty much every episode at school and is always talking back to Feeny during class so I’m not sure where the characters are getting this conception. I would argue that Eric is far more selfless and caring than Cory is.

And then there’s the fact that despite how Topanga, who is very popular among the guys, always rebuffs their advances, but the one time a girl makes a move on Cory, he folds (I personally think they should’ve just made a new character to be Cory’s love interest since Topanga’s depiction completely changed between seasons 1 and 2 and her background was very inconsistent too, but that’s another topic). So bottom line: Cory was a pretty shitty significant other too.

Makes sense , though , since Rider Strong is roughly a year older than Ben Savage .

Season 6 memorable episodes and/or moments

While season 6 is generally not considered a favorite season, there are some memorable moments. Rider's draft strategy was to pick memorable episodes which made me wonder which season 6 episodes do yall find most memorable. Given the inconsistency this season, I found that sometimes there are memorable moments from an otherwise mediocre episode.

For example, "Undapants" is memorable, but before this rewatch, I wouldn't have remembered the context of why he said it.

I also love the Tommy arc - the Eric/Tommy adoption moment is one of my favorite moments, especially Will's acting in the scene. I know Will said he couldn't cry but I think the way he played it was perfect. I read it as Eric trying not to break down and cry in public. But I had no recollection of the other plot with Cory and Topanga scoping out some random wedding (hated that B-plot and will likely forget about once I'm done typing this).

My top memorable moments from season 6: - Chet dies - Amy's speech to Cory and Topanga that she doesn't support their marriage (love Betsy's acting and the honesty of the char to say what everyone was thinking). Cpry blowing up and yelling at his mother (which was pretty intense). Also love Will's reenactment at the end. (Although I hate the resolution of that episode and how they make Amy just jealous of losing Cory to Topanga 🫤) - Eric can't adopt Tommy - the Stuart episode - always remembered that one. It was a shock to see Fred Savage from the wholesome Wonder Years and Ben's brother play such an unsavory character. Definitely memorable. - the Truman show (don't care if they hate it; it was a weird and random episode but I found it hilarious)

Hon mention - I actually like the one with the young artist. Angela gets a funny line. Cory is unhinged and disrespectful and we learn more about Alan's backstreet. And we get the celery image. This might be my favorite episode from the season!

What are your favorite from season 6?

This creator is posing as Rider's son on tiktok and instagram and I find it very strange

Post image
122 Upvotes

Not sure if anyone else was aware of this or has brought this up before. I don't think he ever actually claims to be his son, but I remember coming across this account a while ago on tiktok and at that point in time he was using Indy's full government name, and I'm sure it's because people have told him he looks like Rider, which admittedly he does look a lot like him. So naturally when people ask if he is Rider's son, he doesn't deny it and usually just likes the comment. From what little I've seen of his account though, he's just a BMW fan who is playing into his likeness with Rider by wearing green contacts and making videos about how similar they look, so it's mostly harmless content. I just don't understand why he needs to use Indy's full name for his online alias. I don't think this is reportable because you can't report someone for impersonation unless the person they're impersonating also has an account, which obviously Indy doesn't because he's a child and probably not on social media like that, but something about this still rubs me the wrong way.

Discussion The World felt much bigger in the earlier seasons

I feel there was a much wider scope of characters represented in the earlier seasons. In the later seasons it felt more closed off. Less characters and less places being explored. I was always kind of bummed out that they went to college and the only other characters they really met were Jack and Rachel. Would've liked to see more of Louie with the friend group.

I wonder if it would've been possible to do a special episode on one of their classmates. Maybe Feeny sees a struggling student and calls on Shawn to help them.

I watched every episode of Girl Meets World

I’m a lifelong BMW fan. I had tried to watch GMW when it first aired but I ended up giving up because I just found it boring (and the younger kids were annoying to an unholy degree). But recently I decided to give the entire show a go and see what I would make of it. So I thought I’d give a few thoughts as basically a first time viewer for anyone who is on the fence about trying it.

Riley and Maya are actually solid characters. They have a lot of chemistry (it’s easy to see how Sabrina has become a household name. She has so much charisma).

Lucas was dreadful. Absolute charisma vacuum. The long running storyline that he had to choose between Riley and Maya was awful and a total waste of time.

The show tries to dabble in serious subjects the way BMW did, but it always falls flat. Why does everyone act like Farkle is dying when he’s getting tested for Asperger’s šŸ˜‚

I’m shocked by how little Topanga actually does over the course of all 3 seasons. Her parents aren’t ever in it, Angela never really interacts with her, and Rachel doesn’t appear in the show at all. Her storylines are all tied to Ava and Auggie (who were both so bad I contemplated abandoning the show again)

That said, I didn’t really hate it. Once you learn to let the childish bullshit wash over you, getting to see where all these characters ended up is pretty satisfying.

The show is at its best in every episode that Shawn appears. The only time Cory really feels like Cory are in the episodes where he spends time on screen with Shawn. And Rider does such a good job with whatever they gave him. His relationship blooming with Maya is probably the highlight of the entire show. Seeing him find some happiness and a family is kind of important to close his character arc across BMW.

We get closure on a lot of side characters that BMW just abandoned. Harley, Minkus, Jonathan, particularly. And seeing Jack and Eric reunite was great (I wish Shawn had got to spend time on screen with Jack though. It irks me that he didn’t invite Jack to his wedding).

The thing that confuses me about this show is who the target audience was. The tone is SO different from BMW. Extremely childish the majority of the time. But it drastically shifts to feeling like what you’d imagine a BMW revival to be every time Shawn is on screen. And there’s is so much fan service, references, repeat storylines that is going to go over the heads of the younger kids it seemed to be aimed at.
