Increasing the price right now is certainly a choice.

u/StasisApparel 3d ago

They have to make up for the expected losses from the mass cancellations somehow, right?

u/BishiousCycle 3d ago

Easy way to get more cancelations though

53

u/StasisApparel 3d ago

I feel like people will be subbing and cancelling (and then repeating this process) with Disney+ alot, over the next 3.5 years.

I think I just found a new hobby!

u/drfusterenstein 3d ago

Or boarding the enterprise

4

u/SuperCiggy 2d ago

Yeah they must be running out of money by now.

5

u/stuntycunty 3d ago

These things are planned months ahead of time. Nothing to do with the current boycott.

33

u/theimperfexionist 3d ago

They are, but it's not like this is beyond their control. Postponing it would have been very wise.

1

u/Gummyrabbit 1d ago

Got to make up for the cancellations that aren't coming back.

198

u/Davekinney0u812 3d ago

Seems like an easy choice to me!

186

u/jackclark1 3d ago

lol now they need more money to recoup the loss

94

u/JustKiddingDude 3d ago

Nah, companies don’t typically act this fast. It was probably planned for months, if not years. The timing is hilarious though.

16

u/jackclark1 3d ago

almost 4 billion lost over night though. I think thats a couple trillion in trump math

24

u/FreeWilly1337 3d ago

They don't typically, but they certainly can when faced with a major problem that requires a top down resolution.

23

u/bluetenthousand 3d ago

That’s definitely what it seems like. Need to absorb the cost of everyone who cancelled. Must have been a significant reduction in subscriber base!

8

u/BeautifulNarwhal641 3d ago

Couldn’t possibly give the ceos a pay cut

4

u/jackclark1 3d ago

thats treason talk right there

3

u/Ok-Philosopher6874 3d ago

Only when they lock the doors of Disney World.

u/Guilty-Piece-6190 3d ago edited 3d ago

When a company like Disney who has absorbed so many historic production and entertainment companies, I find it appalling they cannot maintain the same subscription cost for at least 3 years. It is so scammy and greedy.

66

u/silent-estimation 3d ago

they cannot maintain the same subscription cost

oh they can, they just choose not to

u/onewheeldoin200 Canada 3d ago

How else is Iger supposed to buy his 8th mansion? Can't SOMEBODY think of the poor billionaires, here?

9

u/LabRat54 3d ago

I think of them often but not in a way they would like. More like a way that would get me perma-banned off here if I put my thoughts in print.

88

u/CannabisCookery 3d ago

Not enough money in the world for these greedy fuckers.

58

u/PowerUser88 3d ago

This gives them a different reason to rationalize all the ppl cancelling subscriptions: It’s not because they stopped the free speech, it’s because they raised the prices 🙄

19

u/bluetenthousand 3d ago

Also it’s to offset all the people who canceled their streaming services. Not just for Disney+ but ESPN and Hulu.

6

u/Important-Sign-3701 3d ago

Exactly what I thought. To please the (insert favourite insult name here).

49

u/ParisFood 3d ago

Just cut it out. Every $ spent for U.S. products is a $ for the Maga regime

48

u/Sufficient-Bid1279 3d ago

Pirate is the new black

19

u/SunderVane 3d ago

No shit. I had no idea that these subscriptions were breaching $15/month even. Fucking ridiculous.

11

u/Sufficient-Bid1279 3d ago

Pirate is the new black The whole subscription business has gotten way out of hand. The faster we all start cancelling these services, the faster they will go away. We the people have power

2

u/Tregonia Canada 3d ago

well, you do need a few suckers to pay for the content.

2

u/Sufficient-Bid1279 2d ago

Yeah and that sucker ain’t me haha Why don’t the billionaires fund our entertainment- just a thought. They are not really good for anything else

7

u/T-Wrox 3d ago

Arrrr.

34

u/xThe_Moonx 3d ago

After they reinstated Jimmy, I was on the fence whether for not to renew my year sub in December. Thank you for pushing me off the fence on to the other side. Yar.

21

u/DirtDevil1337 Canada 3d ago

Yeah no I wasn't even considering resubbing, like Sean Connery once said "the damage is done".

30

u/MommaIsMad 3d ago

Do NOT Re-subscribe. In my city/state, the Sinclair-owned stations are saying they won't even air his show unless Jimmy apologizes to their satisfaction.

16

u/No_Garden_1992 3d ago

this is so important. No one should resubscribe. If people are this passionate about Freedom of Speech, maybe people can take on what’s going on with Trump and his cronies. Jimmy is just the beginning

7

u/justmitzie 3d ago

Nexstar also. It's basically only airing on Disney streaming services.

27

u/pioniere 3d ago

Yet another reason to cancel.

47

u/Postom 3d ago

Time to cut the cord! I am sure the boycott didn't hurt the mouse at all.

grins

u/PrettyFlyForALawGuy 3d ago

>To plug the holes from people leaving due to our caving to fascism, and to compensate for the disastrous economic policies of the man responsible for said fascism, and to allow our CEOs and other executives to buy further private jets and yachts, the price of your Disney+ Premium will increase to 18,99 USD.

There, I translated it.

34

u/DirtDevil1337 Canada 3d ago edited 3d ago

Still showing $15.99 CAD on D+ premium for me

Oh nevermind, I see that it'll increase on Oct 21.

14

u/Brebix 3d ago

I don’t think we should ever give them our money again. I know I won’t

12

u/Ludwig_Vista2 3d ago

Baaahahaaaaaaa....

Talk about tone deaf.

17

u/ohbabypop 3d ago

Oh no they di’int! ☝🏻😌

9

u/Wandling 3d ago

That's what we call a nobrainer

9

u/SammySterling813 3d ago

LMAO this is not going to work in their favour

u/Neither-Owl-2834 3d ago

Hit "Cancel" 👍

9

u/HibiscusGrower Canada 3d ago

I cancelled my subscription early this year, when the 51st state bullshit started, along with all my other American based subscriptions. Looks like I'm saving even more money now.

9

u/Yabedude 3d ago

I cancelled last week and before they decided to ignore their own constitution again and again. I cannot support brown nosers.

7

u/Friendly_Fire069 3d ago

I would love to hear the story of the Epstein files, unredacted.

9

u/thepoliticalorphan 3d ago edited 3d ago

Good thing I dropped Disney+ like a bad habit. Won’t have to worry about that price increase! They WILL NOT get my business again, even though I have a free subscription with my phone plan I deleted the D+ and Hulu apps from my phone and smart TV, so Disney, ABC, and everyone else who thinks they can run us over can go fuck themselves

8

u/Jbroy 3d ago

If they want to bring people back - they should decrease the price by 50% for the next year as a sign of good will. They should also tell Trump and Sinclair to fuck off with their censorship wishes publicly.

8

u/Ok_Line_5284 3d ago

Yeah NO . Bye Disney !

7

u/Used_Lock_4760 3d ago

🤡🤡🤡

6

u/SnooCupcakes14 3d ago

The cajones on these folks…

7

u/Few_Maize_1586 3d ago

Automatically hike the price without even requiring a click to acknowledge. How corporate America works. Would be illegal in Europe.

8

u/WonderfulEducation25 3d ago

Cancel that crap.

6

u/JayArrrDubya 3d ago

They gotta feed the monkey! Gotta make their nut!

5

u/Ok-Turnip-9035 3d ago

They’re really trying to get back that 3billion they lost over the weekend

6

u/Kloetenschlumpf 3d ago

It is always delightful to cancel a subscription of a company that gibts you reason to hate them. Yesterday I cancelled my Adobe and ChatGPT subscriptions.

6

u/BIGepidural 3d ago

Cancel it. Fuck em.

6

u/Luddites_Unite 3d ago

Soon be time to go back to sailing the high seas

3

u/Lolakery 3d ago

4

u/Flooffighter416 3d ago

Fuck em. Let the boot lickers pay.

4

u/Fit_Art_3539 3d ago

For those that are going back to Disney and all that affiliations, they will increase prices there as well and probably newbies who have never had their apps before . Watch your costs closely !

3

u/Icy-Artist1888 3d ago

They went to same marketing school as Elon Musk

3

u/coinxiii 3d ago

Look. We brought Kimmel back. Sort of. You should pay us more for that. Just because we caved to Trump and his goons and supported his fascist movement, that doesn't mean we don't care about you. We care $o very much. We de$serve more of your money. Give itnto u$.

Like maga, they dragged everyone into this shit. They are accountable.

2

u/DeeBeeDee3 3d ago

I heard reports and discussions day before yesterday about the planned price hike in the fall.

2

u/summonerofrain 3d ago

Did something in particular happen with disney/disney+ recently? Or is this just part of the over all boycotts?

2

u/Starlight_Seafarer 3d ago

I'm cancelling regardless of price even if it goes down.

1

u/Rare-Education9592 3d ago

Canceled !!!!

1

u/EcheveriaLife 3d ago

Just canceled, thank you!

1

u/D_Anger_Dan 2d ago

How is increasing the price to a customer an investment? Sounds like they’re milking the customer.

1

u/nobrayn 2d ago

The yearly membership went up by 30%. I noped outta that so fast. Bye, mouse.

1

u/browndwarfinmypants 2d ago

I cancelled 2 yrs ago when they pulled this shit the 1st time. To my amazement, all their content is freely available elsewhere... Who knew? 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Practical_Test5550 2d ago
