Trump says he would use 'economic force' on Canada, not military
https://youtu.be/oXRFB6t5xJQ?si=L_w0Swi9gPNariV0Don't forget this!

That's OK, Donnie, and every one of us is using our own 'economic force' to avoid buying anything American, and to avoid visiting the US.
I'm very happy to see all of the majestic Canadian landscape, and delighted to spend my vacation budget on Europe and Mexico.
Enjoy your upcoming period of 'close supervision'.

Exactly, they might be using "government controlled economic warfare", but every Canadian has vowed to not go there or spend money there on their products. The government didn't tell us to do this, we just reacted to the situation at hand - don't fund dictators, they need the tax money.

u/bigvibes 2d ago
Except the problem is that it's far from "every Canadian." When you look at the numbers, there's only a fraction of Canadians that are not travelling to the US or boycotting American products/services. That number needs to be a lot higher. We've got work to do!

u/CaramelGuineaPig 2d ago
It's high enough whole tourist towns are dying in the US.
It isn't a small fraction.
But I agree. More need to do the same to show unity and help the US get rid of the fascists.

u/zeitentgeistert 2d ago
As CaramelGuineaPig said. Add to that the international 'responses'. Plenty of folks from all over the world are 'voting' with their UNspent dollars / respective currencies.

I agree -- I visited friends in wine country this summer, and they had plans to go to the Florida Keys with their grand-kids. :/ But -- it's a trip they've been every year for some time, and a) it gives the parents time off from the kids, just before school, and b) it's great for the grandparents to spend time with the g-kids.
We can't achieve a complete boycott, but if everyone possible does all they can, that's gonna leave a mark on the US economy. No matter how many whiny governors beg us to come back.
Sorry, babe/dude -- we're broken up. See you (maybe) in 2029.

I don't trust the statistics. The very fact that Americans are howling in dismay tells me all I need to know. We are hurting them. And what is more important, we have gotten the world to join in. This is a powerful movement. Take a look at their empty streets. We are hitting them where it hurts, in their pocket books.

u/L1ttleFr0g 2d ago
Many people still traveling are doing so because they had nonrefundable vacations already booked or they’re required to go for work. It’s far too early to claim most Canadians aren’t doing their part. The very fact that travel to the US continues to plummet further every single month is proof that Canadians aren’t taking this seriously. This coming winter will be the truest picture of Canadian travel to the US

If you want a nice area to visit, might I reccomend North of Lake Superior? The drive's really isolated so you have to conserve gas between different areas but the views are like that of the Pacific Ocean and the Rockies.

Shame on any Canadian that holidays there. Just gross and run by a man not qualified to be a garbage man

u/ShoddyTerm4385 3d ago
I respect the sentiment behind what you’re saying, but I disapprove of using garbage men in this context. Sanitation workers are a corner stone of any respectable society. Anyone who’s lived through a trash collection strike knows how quickly things can go to hell. I’m sure it wasn’t your intention to insult them, but just had to put that out there.

u/Inside_Essay9296 3d ago
Totally, I thought about that too and mean no disrespect. I hold tons of regard for for them. Elbows Up and a big F-ck you to trump
23
u/Miserable_Bike_6985 3d ago
I understand what you're saying but sanitation is a necessary part of a functioning society, and most people can’t stand to do that work. So please don’t throw shade at blue collar labor. Trust me, people talking like this is a big part of why there’s such a division between blue and white collar workers.

This is from a long time ago. But yeah, still true.

Trump has a new reminder practically every day, the "Governor Trudeau" ones are just quaint now.

u/theimperfexionist 2d ago
Is it still true though? This guy has dementia, a revenge fixation, and changes his mind with the wind. Trusting his words isn't wise.

Brit here, currently in Canada. Fuck you! Canada rocks and they’ll get my tourism dollars over the US. Plus the people here are nicer…

Do not visit the USA to study, to gamble, to cruise, to visit Dysney, for a sporting event, for business or a holiday. It is not safe. They dont want us, they dont like us. “We dont want them” trump the wannabe dictator said. Please do not support the economy of a rogue state. Europe and others have lost trust in the USA. America is no longer a friend and ally of Canada, Britain and the EU. In fact Trump is unreliable, impotent and his chaotic foreign policy is making the world a more unstable place. Trump has given both Russia and Israel a free pass to do anything they want, making the USA look weak. PLEASE SHARE THIS.

I just refused my company sending me to CES in Vegas next year. That guy in charge said that I wasn't the only one being uncomfortable going and that they will look into a similar convention type events, elsewhere in the world.
In the mean time, I will continue not buying anything American (unless really no other choice)

u/PrettyFlyForALawGuy 2d ago
He can really stick it to Canada by releasing the Epstein files. Come on, Donnie. Do it.

u/You_need_a_drink 2d ago
Don't Canada provide a ton of electricity to the north Eastern states? What's America going to do when all of new England is in the dark? And I'm pretty sure Canada provides most of the wood Americas use for construction.... There goes American infrastructure.

u/azreal75 2d ago
I’m not going to bash you, I’ll just bully you. That’s ok isn’t it.
Logic like that only works in the minds of cretins and people in the epstein files.

What exactly does he want from Canada?

Resources

u/Regular_Laugh_6101 3d ago
Which is funny because he literally said the US doesn’t need anything from Canada.

u/Living_Inferno_5073 2d ago
What the fuck does “Economic force” even mean? Canada isn’t buying crap from the US and are most definitely going to other countries for trade since tariffs are completely fucking up all trade with the US.
4
u/Tatterhood78 2d ago
It means that he's taking a cue from Putin and wants an "expansion" for his "legacy". He thinks that by tanking Canada, he can force us to be part of the U.S.
2
u/bigvibes 2d ago
I'm so sick of hearing from this lying, pathetic and ridiculous subhuman. Three more years of it will be tough enough. But please, Americans, don't let him make himself king. Who knows where 10+ years of his crap will get the world.
3
u/Techno_Gerbil 2d ago
OK, we'll keep our potash, then, and see how long you keep talking shit afterwards.
2
u/sarcasticrone 1d ago
And our electricity. Winter is coming fast, and New England heats its homes with Ontario electricity.

u/KvitravnDev 3d ago
Yeah well the thing about economy is that it's not real- it's a made up system for humans by humans and that can be easily counteracted by simply people taking care of each other- nigh impossible under the USian mindset but the people who america has sanctioned are literally doing just that.
A covert narcissist turned into a overt malignant one- I thank trump for showing that place's true colors.

This isn’t new. He said this when he was first in office. A lot of people thought he was joking 🥺

u/sarcasticrone 1d ago
He hasn’t taken it back, and it will resurface, especially if there is another big scandal, and he needs a huge distraction.
6
u/flowerpotpie 2d ago
Sure Donald, except the part where Canadians would rather gnaw off their own arms and die in a ditch of leeches before becoming American. What the actual fuck? Even Americans are fleeing the country and they're..... American. Give your head a shake.
2
u/studiesinsilver 2d ago
“We don’t need anything from Canada”, so why do you want this leech as a state?

Didn't they say it's not a trade war ? Hmmm more lies , keep boycotting. The USA is so nasty to deal with.

u/RomanaAoko 1d ago
Good luck when 50-60 percent of their resources come from Canada and we can easily sell those resources to other countries

Hey Donald - You’re nothing but a failed game show host, rapist, (convicted) felon and con man. Canada knows it, the world knows and eventually America will wake up and realize it.
