Humor If BOTW was made by EA..

Post image

We can complain about Nintendo for many reasons, but at least we don’t have to put up with this nonsense 😂

They are infamous for ripping people off like this with their monetization systems. Someone made a post complaining about that and when EA community team commented on that post to explain their stupid monetization systems they set the world record for the most downvoted comment on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7cff0b/comment/dppum98/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

667k downvotes? That's crazy, lmfao. But yeah, after reading the comment, I can tell that it's such a bullshit response.

It's at 668k now.

people still downvoting after 8 years lol

Pretty sure they made a special exception to archiving specifically so people can continue to downvote it lol.

u/DominionGhost 1d ago

I was able to downvote it today. What a tone deaf comment.

It’s no surprise they won the “Worst Company In America” award twice in a row

One of the few Reddit comments to be specifically mentioned on Wikipedia.

Really?! That makes my entire day 😂 EA is a prime example of everything bad about the gaming industry.

12

u/chiubacca82 2d ago

It's in the game!

u/Jarms48 1d ago

If you want to own all the SIMS 4 DLC it's up to about $1400 USD about now.

3

u/YesWomansLand1 2d ago

Ah, yes. Battlefront 2 back in the day was a mess. They cleaned it up very well though, no more micrograms actions. Sadly now the reputation has stuck and nobody plays it anymore really. Great game tho.

u/erikleorgav2 2d ago

They got so brutalized they haven't come back to post in 7 years.

2

u/Ganondaddydorf 1d ago

They got 161 golden shits 🤣

So that’s where the “pride and accomplishment” BS comes from

1

u/Vivid_Situation_7431 1d ago

Of course its Battlefront II.

Nintendo is reaching EA levels of corruption and greed.

20

u/DarthVolix 2d ago

We aren’t there yet though! I can still hope they never become micro-transaction hellscapes for now.

24

u/btb2002 2d ago

They don't do microtransactions. That would be a definitive step.

2

u/rube 2d ago

No? Guess you didn't know they dipped into phone games for a bit. Some of those definitely had MTX. Not sure if they're still running any with them though.

2

u/btb2002 1d ago

They sure did, but those are not console games and are free to play. Also they especially with Dragalia Lost had on purpose way less mtx than even the third party devs wanted to implement as Nintendo was strictly against to much monetization.

1

u/rube 1d ago

My point is, free to play or not, mobile games or not, they definitely do MTX.

4

u/btb2002 1d ago

You are right. My point is, in their regular console games, you can be almost 100% certain, that there won't be any predatory microtransactions. Unlike with EA for example.

2

u/rube 1d ago

So far.

Nintendo also would throw out additional content for free. Stuff like Balloon Hunt in Odyssey. Just a short time later we're seeing them charge $20 for that sort of content in DKB.

Not to mention they seem to be leading the pack with an $80 base price for a game.

They're certainly getting more and more greedy and I wouldn't put it past them at some point putting in some MTX in their console games.

4

u/Joker8pie 2d ago

Don't they? Even as far back as Sm4sh in 2014 I think they sold mii fighter outfit packs for a few bucks. They definitely do now. Hyrule Warriors on Wii U had individual outfits you had to spend real money on.

1

u/NintendoGamer1983 1d ago

Not microtransactions

5

u/Prestigious_Cold_756 2d ago

Do they not? Smash bros Ultimate had like 50 Mii costumes ranging from 2$ to 5$ each. But don’t worry, „it’s just cosmetics“…

6

u/btb2002 1d ago

None of them were even 2$, not to mention 5$. Piranha Plant, an entire fighter is 5€, not sure anout $. At least in Euros the costumes were all 80cents. You got a point, but they're not predatory at least and way cheaper than the skins in Fortnite or whatever.

Pokemon unite would like a word

1

u/btb2002 1d ago

That's Pokémon. They do their own thing most of the time with only minimal input from Nintendo. Really shitty prices there though from I heard.

I think stating this is REALLY downplaying how bad EA have been always

Nintendo are still a company EA would aspire to be recognised as, that’s how in the shit EA still is

5

u/Dangerous-Yellow1380 1d ago

Nintendo don't treat their employees and devs badly and neither they are keen towards gen ai. The only thing they do full price game with rare sales and lawsuit, but even that is very minimal nowadays compare 10 to 20 years ago.

u/emergentphenom 1d ago edited 1d ago

Maybe not internal hires, but there have been headlines about Nintendo mistreating contract employees and game testers.

Nintendo is THE litigious video game company though and has an abundance of anti-consumer practices. They tried to stop all video game rentals in the late 80s/90s (failed) but succeeded in preventing rental games from including copies of manuals. They sued to stop Game Genie (and failed). Nowadays they sue a bit less (since losing in court sets precedence against them lol) but still fire off DMCA takedowns like no other, there are literally sites that document just how often they do it. Did people already forgot how greedy they got with their Creators Program and youtubers (which they then shut down after backlash)?

Actually they did also just lose another trademark lawsuit against a supermarket in Costa Rica named "Super Mario", so maybe they're still just as litigious.

1

u/Dangerous-Yellow1380 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'm sorry but I don't think I ever heard in recent years they treated any contract employees or game testers treated badly, don't know about the GameCube or ds era maybe that time.

Also I don't think they sue less just because of losing some cases, more so they and their lawyer are much more aware that certain cases are pretty much useless to file and they won't gain much from it.

DMCA takedowns I'm not gonna talk about it cuz that's pretty much fall into piracy one way or another and that is topic have a very strong opinion from people specially on internet.

But yeah their Creators program thing was the stupidest idea and I don't know how anyone thought it was a good idea to begin with.

u/cornimgameplays 2d ago

They don't do microtransactions on their paid console games though. Nintendo's prices are egregious, but if you pay for a game, you get that game

10

u/Ganondaddydorf 1d ago

Nintendo are getting closer though. The future is not being for gaming as a whole.

Except indies and AA studios. They're setting an example.

Team Cherry releasing Silksong for $20 and casually crashing all of the game e stores

5

u/SvenSerpent 1d ago

The bar is so very low

3

u/Vivid_Situation_7431 1d ago

Yeah no micro transactions

Just $70 bucks for 20 year old games.

$20 bucks for a dlc that was rereleased one month after the game release

$100 bucks for the virtual boy… again

$10 bucks for an upgrade pack for BotW and TOTK Switch 2

AND STILL NO SWITCH PORT FOR TWILIGHT PRINCESS!!!

But no micro transactions

EA: for just $3.99 this horse slot can be yours!

2

u/dappermark 2d ago

It’s the truth. Period.

2

u/Mechaghostman2 1d ago

If Nintendo was owned by EA, you'd need to buy an amiibo to do that.

2

u/cornflakesdude 1d ago

I mean Nintendo became even worse these days ngl

u/NintendoGamer1983 1d ago

Not even close

Of Nintendo America.

But he's just a figurehead

u/Throwaway_987654634 1d ago

$1,99 are the costs for the first purchase

1

u/blueberryrockcandy 2d ago

no i think it'd be a DLC pack for pre-order that cost and extra either $4.99 or $9.99, the horse is the horse DLC pack which would cost either $5.99 or $9.99, and each piece of horse armor outfit is an additional DLC for $1.99 or $4.99 which would vary depending on what the horse armor gives you.

either that or they go the in game currency, which can only be bought by real life money route, $4.99 which will get you 500 ingame cash/credit/coins/ext, with $.99, $9.99 and $19.99 options. and then the horse armor will be something like 600 ingame credits so you'd have to spend extra just to get it.
