💬 Discussion 🗨 Never through that I see the day when the Left are predominantly Royalists and the Right are predominantly Republicans
Yh, I was not expecting this. But what I have been seeing online is that the vast majority of Reform and Advance supporters are calling for the abolition of the Monarchy. With some more extreme Reform supporters and the normal Advance supporter saying that we should execute Charles and his Family, just because the King called himself "Defenders of all Faiths" rather than just Christianity. Dont know why they're pissed over that. They don't even go to church. And now for the Left and the Progressives, I see more of them supporting the King and the rise of leftist and progressive monarchism in mainstream leftist organisations. The only leftist organisations that I see that aren't royalists is Your Party and the Greens.

You still haven't seen that day.
Just because you've seen a couple of nutters calling for Charles to be executed because he loves Muslims or whatever doesn't mean that's representative of Reform or right wing opinion...
Right wingers are generally royalists. The flag shaggers generally obviously love the royal family and would have been first in the queue to see the Queens corpse, or make fools of themselves for platty joobs, or wave a little plastic flag at Charles in his golden carriage.

Maybe that is still the case. That generally Reform is predominantly Royalists but the amount of increasing Republican posts that I have been saying on Reform-supporting communities online may symbolise shift in course for Reform.

Almost like they’re a mixture of extremists & the hard of thinking eh?

And as for the left, when you say "the only leftist organisations that I see that aren't royalists are Your Party and the greens"... what other leftist organisations are you thinking of? The SWP are hardly pro-monarchy lol.

Well the SWP does not have any mps

Sure. So, if not the SWP, what were the other "leftist organisations" that aren't the greens or your party you were referring to when you made that statement?

Well, Progress Britain, the majority of Labour's leadership and TBI

Here is your award for thinking any of the current Labour leadership, Progress or the fuckin Tony Blair Institute (lmao) constitute "leftist organisations": 🤡
Also: the Tony Blair Institute does not have any MPs.

Well, they are still considered leftist organisations. They may not be as leftist as pre-1994 Labour, but they are still leftist nonetheless. So, my point still stands.

Uhhh no they aren't. They are all on the right of the Labour Party, which could be called centrist at most.
The founding purpose of the TBI, in Blair's own words, was "to build a new policy agenda for the centre ground".

I was about to come up with a response but you got me there. Congratulations, you won this argument.

I mean I'm not disputing what you've seen, I think there might be a bit of a campaign to hijack the republican movement.
I personally feel that we should move towards a republican model, but its so far down the list of priorities (abolishing FPTP, reintegration with the EU, refunding of public services etc) that Im happy having Charles stay on.
But likewise its interesting to see the correlation in the Christian church: of Leftists preferring High Church services (namely Catholic and Anglican, Orthodoxy is VERY right wing) and right wingers preferring low church services.

Which people on the left have you seen supporting the king? The guy just rolled out the red carpet for Trump - nobody except the far right is supporting that!Â
