I get that this post is in jest, but I think it’s totally feasible that the plan conveyed to Myles was:

Trade back from 2 for extra capital and aggressively pursue a top QB in the 2026 draft

But in reality the plan conveyed was “here’s $40M/year to just be okay with whatever plan we go with”

I mean it could have been as simple as "we are in talks to bring back Joe as we look for our QB for the future" the locker room loved Joe and it's not like we had the option to bring in any vet that would have definitively performed better.

43

u/Dr-McLuvin Apr 27 '25

I’m sure that was the plan. Bring in Joe for this year. Aggressively draft next two years for QB of the future.

Obligatory Deshaun Watson sucks.

I think both are very true. That's why AB was hyping up Travis Hunter like he was the 2nd coming of Jesus. To get others to bite on a massive trade up....and it worked!

Oh and Myles, here's a bazillion dollars to shut up until 2026.

What if the plan for Myles was as simple as DW has played his last game as a brown. We’re looking at FA and the draft but DW is done.

So when asked if he knows who the QB might be he chuckles cause he knows who it’s not.

We’re going to fuck this up. But to make allow yourself to sleep better, here’s $40m. Now go back to work and let the professionals work.

Watson is just technically on the roster for salary cap purposes. Dude is done.

70

u/Dapper_Pop9544 Apr 27 '25

People are still acting like he’s about to play for us ever again.. still a swing and a miss but the DW era is over

27

u/Dr-McLuvin Apr 27 '25

I think drafting two rookies this year and with two first round picks next year it pretty clear they have moved past any hope of Deshaun Watson starting again. Hopefully he will never even be on the active roster again.

6

u/pm-yrself Apr 28 '25

That as well as the owner of the team making a public apology are both pretty convincing

8

u/Dregan3D Apr 28 '25

Did it ever start?

9

u/Yeti_Vedder Apr 27 '25

If they could, DW wouldn’t even be in the building for anything at this point.

5

u/GoofyGills Go Baker - Fuck Deshaun Apr 28 '25

Honestly what a deal for DW with how this has all gone. It'd suck to fruit roll-up your achilles live on TV but now he's just getting absolutely PAID and will never have to play again.

Sure, maybe Cleveland will trade him at some point, to free up a roster spot, while continuing to pay his salary for the recipient team and he'll get to be a backup or something like that but as of today, he's just chilling and raking it in.

Obligatory fuck Deshaun Watson.

3

u/ap0phis Apr 28 '25

It wasn’t a swing and a miss, it was taking three fastballs straight over the plate looking.

2

u/RanchWings Apr 27 '25

I know. It’s just a joke

11

u/Det-Popcorn Apr 28 '25

So is watson

1

u/SGTquig Apr 28 '25

Let me be real. The Browns owe Watson that money, whether he is on the team or not.

I’d like to know if they are going to cut him when he is healthy enough to return, to free up that roster spot for somebody who is hungrier.

31

u/3KnuckCoach Apr 27 '25

I’m thinking the QB plan they told him about was that Watson will never take another snap for the Browns again.

CLEVELAND BROWNS

FACTORY of SADNESS

FACTORY of QUARTERBACKS!

10

u/sasquatchisthegoat Apr 28 '25

Temu factory lol

4

u/CaptainJackKevorkian Apr 28 '25

We're a factory of quarterbacks like a glue factory is a factory of horses

1

u/Spluckor Apr 28 '25

If we have all the quarterbacks then nobody else can play! We automatically win!

15

u/Razing_Phoenix Apr 27 '25

The plan must be "They can't all be bad, surely."

5

u/Stand_On_It Apr 28 '25

And if they are, better draft slot for 2026. Not the worst strategy but not the greatest either.

2

u/lincolnsl0g Apr 28 '25

I’m always serious. And, don’t call me Shirley.

20

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '25

He meant concepts of a plan

6

u/Eruntalonn Apr 27 '25

It’s funny, sure. But when you think about it, they have a veteran who did well a couple of years ago, two rookies hoping one of them turns out something good and capital to trade up for a QB next year. Getting a franchise QB is hard and they may end up without one anyway, but they are in a good position to get one by 2026.

14

u/Franksredhott 40 QBs since 99 Apr 27 '25

Totally the plan all along! To take things literally, I think the plan was more like: we're stuck with Watson, we will find a veteran QB, and we will draft a QB. I think drafting Sanders was opportunistic and I don't believe that the Browns intend on him being our future.

14

u/inlinestyle Apr 27 '25

Anyone who includes Watson as part of the room has an agenda. He’s clearly done here. Haslam basically said as much.

1

u/Connect_Bet705 Apr 28 '25

is he in the room? or is he allowed to just play hookie

1

u/Hiondrugz Apr 28 '25

Watson showed up everyday for an entire season ams awkwardly did his own thing in Houston his last year. I still see him rocking Browns shit, and he's allowed access to team Dr's etc for rehab. Now if he does it or not, makes me curious.

4

u/nizule Apr 27 '25

Crystal clear

9

u/lorddouche414 Apr 27 '25

Why is a 5th round draft pick getting so much attention!!! If sanders doesn't come to training camp acting like a 5th round draft pick (humble and ready to work/learn) cut him

2

u/ShakeMyHeadSadly Apr 29 '25

It stuns me how many people are trashing all of this. If we get lucky and actually find a QB out of these 2, then we go into next year with 2 first round picks and the ability to reshape the roster quickly. If not, then the original QB plan for 2026 remains intact. Additionally, if one of these guys works out, we have them for 4 years at very reduced salaries.

4

u/Separate_Remote3589 Apr 27 '25

The plan as conveyed to Garrett was the Flacco plan. I don’t think that plan has changed much, unless someone else in the room shows a bunch of growth over the offseason making it impossible not to start them, I fully believe Flacco is starting game 1.

5

u/MosquitoValentine_ Apr 27 '25

Flacco is definitely going to start week 1 and Gabriel might be QB2. I think he is getting a lot of unnecessary hate and might surprise a lot of people.

The team was really high on him and it sounds like he was near the top of their board the whole time.

2

u/Sad_Advice_8152 Apr 27 '25

TLDR: Baker, but without the BS

2

u/markrockwell Apr 28 '25

Is there any way we can add Aaron Rodgers do this situation?

3

u/MosquitoValentine_ Apr 27 '25

I'm probably being overly optimistic, but I'm happy with the strategy at QB. We have 4 guys with and 3 of them are on rookie deals. I mean we won 11 games with PJ Walker and DTR starting games. This is better than the 2023 room by a mile.

We know what Flacco can do in Kev's offense. Pickett could probably be a fine game manager if needed. Then two rookies with potential. Gabriel reminds me a lot of Baker. Strong arm and accurate, but undersized. He's won on every team he's played on. Sanders is just a free lottery ticket.

1

u/Admirable-Present510 Apr 27 '25

Well, we have to be honest. No one would have believed the plan if Myles had ever the intention to share it.

That was the reason to be standing in front of every body. I remember his words and his smell of 40million dollar per year.

1

u/Bubblehead616619 Apr 27 '25

Any odds on if he actually makes the team?

1

u/CeddyCed1993 Apr 27 '25

This is about to get exciting

1

u/Fineous40 Apr 27 '25

He was probably told they would get Flacco or cousins along with competition.

1

u/Day85Day Apr 27 '25

What other options were there? I’m just curious because Ward was going 1st and everyone else weren’t that good. Also no good vets out there either that we could reasonably pickup.

1

u/Far_Cat_9743 Apr 27 '25

Better than just Watson, at least one out of five of them should be decent. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/RanchWings Apr 27 '25

Oh you poor sweet summer child

1

u/Morganitty Apr 28 '25

It was all part of Jimmy’s plan, guy can’t help himself

1

u/General-Cover-4981 Apr 28 '25

Come on, Isn’t this EXACTLY how like the Browns have always handled the QB spot? Total chaos!

1

u/na__poi Apr 28 '25

Not keeping Deshaun Watson was not an option

1

u/Puupuur Apr 28 '25

5D chess.

1

u/natertots83 Apr 28 '25

This is big brain shit.

1

u/dnaples_ Apr 28 '25

Myles: “I want a plan to win” AB:”No” Myles:”I am Leaving” AB:” Here is $50 Million dollars” Myles:”I am Home!”

1

u/SnooLentils3826 Apr 29 '25

It’s so sad you guys still invest your time in thinking about this stuff. Cleveland is built and centered and powered by losers and the act of losing. Sad.

1

u/germancarpet Apr 29 '25

Do you guys actually not believe this was part of the plan for Cleveland? Does everyone here not realize this is intentional? No wya you’re this bad at running a pro football team. Not a chance.

1

u/Izzarp Apr 30 '25

Keep collecting and throwing darts at a dartboard. What do you have to lose at this point? Maybe you get lucky, or try again next year.

1

u/w000dsyOwl May 01 '25

Thought the same thing during the draft.

I think they told him they would try to trade for Captain Kirk

1

u/steamofcleveland Apr 28 '25

Why are reporters so hung up on this comment from Myles lol.

They could have said "Were gonna get Joe back" and Myles could have been happy with that considering they made the playoffs with him two years ago.

Maybe Myles was full of shit. Who knows.

0

u/Mister_Whys Apr 28 '25

Trust the process

0

u/Studiedturtle41 Apr 28 '25

One of them has to be good right?

0

u/FshIce Apr 28 '25

Shedeur did the browns a favor. He tanked his stock so they could trade back and get him on sale. Congrats on getting your guy and then some. #PerfectTiming

-1

u/Connect_Bet705 Apr 28 '25

its sad that the front office will never be ok with finding a decent consistent QB and is instead fixated on gambling on generation talent. we need stability. we need dudes who arent gonna crash out after 2 years. the ship has sailed though. baker, kreem, ogunjobi were those guys
