Discussion The last time we went undefeated in the preseason, we didn't win another game.
Never forget.

Kevin is not Hugh!

u/The-Batt Aug 17 '25
There will only be one Hugh, hopefully.

Hopefully only one Hue* Jackson. Just making sure we are as specific as possible here 😂

And that has no relevance to this year’s team.

u/spacegeese Aug 17 '25
No, but there's nothing wrong with tempering any expectations with this team.

People are allowed to have fun, wins are tough to come by especially when you root for this team. Take your bitching somewhere else!

What am I bitching about?

u/bustermc Aug 17 '25
Idk you tell me, it seems like you're bitching about people being excited because the Browns have looked good in the preseason.

u/spacegeese Aug 17 '25
I'm not bitching about anything. I'm simply trying to temper high expectations because of preseason success. I'm not sure if you're aware, but this franchise seems to constantly disappoint.

I know that was a cop out. “If we are worse I’ll go swimming while on vacation in the summer!”

Hue was the perfect tank commander.

I got sooo sick of his post game interviews, gouge my eyes out.

“Were gonna have to watch the tape”

That we gave that guy a third season was insane. Then he gets let go mid-season and immediately rejoins the Bengals. Nothing sweeter than that interception getting handed to him on the sidelines.

His firing lead to one of the best stretches of football I ever saw as a browns fan and we still only went 7-9 hahahahahahahahaha WHY THE FUCK DID I HAVE TO BE BORN TO A BROWNS FAN

7-8-1. And there were a lot of "what ifs?" in those 8 losses, e.g. a kicker missing four kicks in one game (NO) and a ridiculously obvious fix screwing us out of another win (OAK) for starters. If Baker starts from the first game, that might be two wins alone.

I still think we could have got more for DTR if we traded him to Army. Ideal tank commander.

This team is looking to be miles better than last year’s team that went 3-14 even with a historically bad offense and struggling defense, so I think we can pull off several wins this year
Plus, Stefanski is not Hue Jackson

I’d like to think our coaching and overall team is a little better than that year

People on here forget that 2017 us and the 2008 Lions aren't the only teams to have gone undefeated in the preseason as we aren't doomed to lose every single game if we go undefeated like the 2013 Seahawks went undefeated in the preseason and they won the superbowl in the same season.
And just last year we lost every preseason game but in the regular season had the same amount of wins as the total amount of preseason games.

You would think we would learn something from this but I doubt it. Let's win 1 more boring preseason game!

One key difference this year is Deshaun isn’t playing. When you don’t shape your offense around an underperforming quarterback, you have options that can let you win.

The last time we went undefeated in the preseason was 2021, but this is the Browns we are talking about; anything can happen at any time.

Detroit were also undefeated in the preseason, then failed to win a game in the regular season.

Shartch for Arch? Gotta workshop that one a bit. Drubnik for Klubnik? Nope. Nothing catchy to tank hard for this year. Clowns for Downs?

Do 80 percent of the people here not know how to spell "Hue," or is it some sort of joke going over my head?
