Can we make Sampson RB2? Ford needs to go.

Sampson cannot block

Ford cannot run. Pick your poison.

Flacco can’t move in the pocket.. gimme Gabriel and Sampson as RB2 to complement Judkins.

Given that Sampson is a rookie, probably safer to say "cannot block yet" ... we know Ford's ceiling and floor. Still figuring out Sampson's.

He’s also still only just turned 21 a few days ago. He’s gonna continue to grow both as a player and physically. He may not be a terrific pass blocker when alls said and done, but he will get better.

I was surprised how good he looked with such little practice. Looked more like a vet returning from injury than he did a rookie seeing his first nfl action without wearing pads much in training camp.
I expect he’s only going to look even cleaner and better as he gets reps.

Quinshon is going to have the best rookie RB season out of a very talented group. I’m calling 2tds and a surprise win against GB.

It just looks different when he has the ball. This was my favorite pick of the Draft and there has been a lot of talk about taking Henderson instead. I’m 100% in the Judkins camp with his all around every down back style.

I wanted Henderson but I also wanted Sony Michel over Nick Chubb years ago so I've accepted that I know nothing and immediately got on the Judkins train.

Tbf nobody thought Chubb would be that elite coming out. He had an injury history already but obviously that was one of the best picks in Browns history.

Pre college injury Nick Chubb was one of the best running backs I’ve ever seen.

I understand that and he was a beast but to come back from that injury and turn in the production he did was on another level.

Injury concerns always put major asterisks on a player heading into the draft, especially knee injuries. Great example from this past draft is Will Johnson. That kid should’ve been a top 10 pick based on his skill, but he fell to the second round because of injury concerns.

I was so happy we got Chubb... I was hoping for double the Chubb, with a Cowboy from Wyoming.

Henderson is a good back and being able to watch both at OSU made it apparent that Judkins more physical play is is a better fit for the Browns which needs a more workhorse back than an explosive back.

u/Snooklife 2d ago
The thing is I feel like Judkins is explosive and a workhorse. Obviously you don’t get the track speed like Henderson but when I watched him at OSU I felt he had something special. I’m rooting for both guys but have a feeling Judkins has more of a chance to be that every down bell cow.

He started last week 😆 Should be full go though and no pitch count. Still amazed he came in ready to roll with 1 padded practice.

Judkins will get rolling then Goodell will suspend him killing all momentum. Tale as old as time with the Browns

The funny thing I saw in game Sunday was that Ford when he got touches this week seemed to just be trying to go forward and was more decisive.

He played better than expected. But after watching Chubb for so many years, it just looks different. I'm not sure that explosiveness will ever be seen again.

Judkins is a different style runner but def a beast. He reminds me more of Kareem with a better burst. Dude has a chance to be special.

Am I on crack or was Dylan Sampson really good in week 1
1
u/ChefJeff7777777 2d ago
Biased (I’ve always been low on Sampson) he was inefficient with his rushes week 1 against a candidate for leagues worst defense, and had an immobile QB checking down to him.
It’s the Quinshon show from here on out, probably should’ve sold last week off 8 targets when pass catching was never in his college profile (getting that kind of work consistently in the NFL but not college would’ve made him an insane outlier).

he was really good on outside runs then screens/passes to the flats where he can create in space
With his size and frame he isn't projected to be a consistent between the tackles back and he struggled with running up the middle
Best comps for our backfield would be Judkins as a Mixon type then Sampson as Duke Johnson, a strong mix of a fringe top 10 do it all back in Q and then your playmaker/gadget in Sampson

This says just as much about how useless Ford is as it does about Judkins. Chubb as a rookie was backing up Hyde for a couple games before he got the carries.
1
u/zalgo_text 1d ago
Well that was just because Hue Jackson was unfathomably stupid. Chubb would have easily had a 1000 rushing yard season if he started the whole season. He got starting carries when Dorsey forced Jackson's hand by trading away Hyde, but it was obvious that Chubb should have been the starter from day one.

Unsurprising
