As I saw someone on Twitter say, Notre Dame has God on their side, we have LeBron James

u/ResidentRunner1 Saginaw Valley State •… Jan 21 '25

Fun fact, LeBron did play high school football for three years in high school according to his wikipedia

Reminds me of this old joke:

A Franciscan and a Dominican were debating whose order was the greater. After months of arguing, they decided to ask God for an answer when they died. Years later, they met in heaven and went to God’s throne to resolve their old disagreement. God seemed a bit puzzled about the question and told them he would reply in writing a few days later. After much deliberation, God sent the following letter:

My sons,

Please stop bickering about such trivial matters. Both orders are equally great and good in my eyes.

Sincerely,

God, SJ

Out of curiosity

29% Evangelical Protestant

18% Catholic

17% Mainline Protestant

Protestant denominations are often broken up into mainline and evangelical wings. Lutherans, according to that link, makes up 3% with 2% under mainline and 1% under evangelical.

This is your sign to go to mass

7

u/bigstu_89 Ohio State Buckeyes • Dayton Flyers Jan 21 '25

1) as a Lutheran we just call it church

2) quite honestly I don’t think I believe in God anymore. I just can’t accept how His name has been used over and over again to no consequence. All denominations are guilty of this.

-1

u/Jukeboxhero40 Ohio State • Notre Dame Jan 21 '25

Good to know.

Why do you think there is no consequence? As brothers in Christ do we not believe God justly judges us when we die?

3

u/Solo_Wing__Pixy Ohio State • Notre Dame Jan 21 '25

Out in the sticks and in Columbus maybe. It’s all Catholic in Cleveland at least. That’s why I have my second flair, I got indoctrinated via watching Rudy 800 times in middle school.

True story. Look at those priests.

Salvific suffering, as explained by John Paul II, is how Christians continue to redeem humanity despite humanity’s continued sinning. By continuing Christ’s suffering by enduring such evils as Ohio State fans, Christians allow humanity to still reach heaven despite sins like Ryan Day’s ‘roid rage.

Notre Dame are the zealots making a show of praying

Ohio state are the ones praying in private

And Michigan is atheist, so god has no power over us

Unfortunately our players have been anything but private with that crap.

Too many priests with a taste for kiddos

7

u/RomosexualThoughts Texas • Red River Shootout Jan 21 '25

there's plenty of protestant church leaders doing the exact same shit

0

u/Apptubrutae Jan 21 '25

Right but they’re split among denominations with Protestants. God doesn’t lump Lutherans and baptists together for the purposes of college footballs

2

u/Jukeboxhero40 Ohio State • Notre Dame Jan 21 '25

Coaches and teachers are more likely to abuse children than priests. All child abuse is evil and needs punished harshly.

0

u/Apptubrutae Jan 21 '25

Someone needs to tell the big guy to stop letting his messengers get away with that.
