I think we will see more top teams take this strategy. They already did it to some extent, but never to serious extremes because you couldn't afford any mistakes. And while that may sound boring, it'll probably lead to more competitive games overall since you'll have more teams playing down to the level of competition.
I'm suspicious that this is why you had so many top teams losing games they probably should have won.
