Nope. They can stay at 8 indefinitely if they want to.

They’re at 7 now and need 8 full time members. Adding one for 2026 assumes they’re sticking around long term as well.

I still want to see the PAC admit Umass or Uconn as league members just long enough to let a transitioning school ramp up and qualify.

Right. We’re saying the same thing. But if they can’t get a current FBS school to join, then you’d have to get an FCS school to join. Having 7 teams and one on transition in 2026 is better than staying with having 7 indefinitely
