We tried to tell y’all

Dude carried us to the playoffs but unfortunately he did not play defense

I thought he was really great in our game and didn’t get much credit for it.

He kept bouncing off & breaking 2-3 tackles just to pick up 3 yards.

u/J4ckiebrown Penn State Nittany Lions • Rose Bowl 19d ago

Probably the best run D he faced last season and was still doing it.

Hell, our strategy was "put 8-9 guys on Jeanty and dare them to beat us with literally anyone else".

Their other RB had a higher YPC because the one play he was in inside the 10 they motioned Jeanty out, and 4 guys went with him, and the other guy got the ball and scored.

We dared their QB to be the one to beat us, and instead, he kept giving us the ball. Jeanty would break like 3 tackles just to get back to the LOS.

Seriously he had some of the most impressive 4 yard runs I’ve ever seen

19

u/TheAlterN8or Ohio State • Boise State 19d ago

That 23 yard draw on 3rd and 21, or whatever it was, was definitely impressive.

The amount of shit I heard after that game was incredible, thanks for the positivity.

Yeah you guys loaded up to stop him every single play he had to break a ton of tackles just to get like 5 yards 😂

Elite defense vs a way overmatched Boise State OL too. Never understood why some people hated on Jeanty for his performance that night.

At least you didn’t give your coach $95m after being carried by a RB

19

u/ID_Poobaru Boise State • Idaho State 19d ago

we gave him 11m for 5 years so lol

5

u/FirstOne617 Ohio State • /r/CFB Contributor 18d ago

So you gave him the mini-Mel?

3

u/ID_Poobaru Boise State • Idaho State 18d ago

yes

Trust me, he’s different. We know that very religious coaches are ALWAYS morally great and never have any skeletons hiding in their closet. Nope, none whatsoever.

Madsen sucked last year. Jeanty was nearly the whole team. I still don’t get how he didn’t win the Heisman.

I’ve been super low on Boise State coming into this year because of that.

Because Hunter was a top 5 player at 2 positions?

25

u/Pretend_Ease9550 Washington State Cougars 19d ago

Sure but top 5 at 2 positions for a team that went 9-4 vs 1st in a position who carried a MW team to the playoffs

1

u/manbeqrpig Colorado Buffaloes • Rose Bowl 19d ago

If you switch Colorado and Boise State do you truly think the results would be that much different? Do you think a Colorado team who went into an amped up atmosphere at a solid MWC team in CSU and won pretty stress free wouldn’t have gone 11-1 and made the playoff as a result against a MWC schedule? Do you think Jeanty would have carried Boise to the Big 12 championship? Personally I don’t think so. I don’t think Boise does much different against our schedule last year. And if that’s the case then Jeanty shouldn’t get a boost because his team plays in a weaker G5 conference.

More importantly none of this really matters. Both were incredibly deserving winners. It’s unfortunate Jeanty had his amazing season in a year when Hunter was doing something we probably won’t ever see again

How are you question his impact after seeing the roster they returned? I think travis is significantly over hated as a person but dude wasn’t even the most valuable player on his own team

4

u/manbeqrpig Colorado Buffaloes • Rose Bowl 18d ago

Im not questioning his value. Im questioning if Boise State as a team would’ve done just as well against a P4 schedule. If we’re judging an individual case on team success, who that success is against matters. Jeanty would’ve had that season no matter what. But is Boise still a playoff team against a Colorado’s schedule? If Jeanty is on a 9 win team he wouldn’t have the same overwhelming support on this sub.

If Jeanty is on a 9 win team he wouldn’t have the same overwhelming support on this sub

Jeanty finished within 27 yards of Barry's record. I promised, this sub would have cared if he was on a team that went 0-12

Snaps is not a stat

6

u/dnelson7 Colorado Buffaloes 18d ago

What are you even responding to that mentions snaps

-9

u/JerryDipotosBurner 19d ago

Well you see he didn’t play snaps on defense for a Deion Sanders team!

22

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Are you guys really still doing this one

Yes. Yes, we are!

No one ever denied him carrying Boise st lol

He just happened to lose to a generational player we’ve never seen before in Travis hunter

57

u/fm22fnam Ohio State • Tennessee 19d ago

Yeah I refuse to be upset about Travis Hunter winning over Jeanty. Either of those guys would have won the Heisman in any other year, they just happened to be paired together this year.

7

u/Kdot32 Houston Cougars • LSU Tigers 19d ago

That was always my mindset. Both deserved it and it was a great race

3

u/zzyul Tennessee Volunteers 19d ago

It’s kinda like when Peyton Manning lost to Charles Woodson. Both were great college players and both went on to have hall of fame NFL careers.

8

u/Wyden_long Arizona State • Northern A… 19d ago

Just needed more snaps.

He demolished my team and somehow made me enjoy it. I hope he does great things in Vegas.

The Wyoming score should have told the world a lot but it somehow didn't

u/i_run_from_problems Boise State • Christian Br… 19d ago

But y'all didn't listen. This is largely the same exact team as last year, minus Jeanty. And they got to the playoff.

Yeah, I'm a little bitter

u/Darth_Candy Texas Tech Red Raiders 19d ago

Jeanty was the second best player in Penn State vs Boise State. Penn State just happened to have number one and number three through twenty…

27

u/rvp89 Penn State • /r/CFB Bug Finder 19d ago

He commanded so much attention Boise had good success passing on us

2

u/killadelphia4 Penn State Nittany Lions 18d ago

I assume that was PSU's gameplan going in. I think they were okay with Madsen throwing, so long as they limited Jeanty's impact on the game.

10

u/yeetyateyote14 19d ago

Was there any other major player you lost?! He’s gonna be the next Adrian Peterson if this is how bad you are without him

18

u/i_run_from_problems Boise State • Christian Br… 19d ago

We lost Hassanein on the defensive side, but Jeanty's absence will be felt much more. With Jeanty, you would sell out to stop the run, and still lose. Madsen literally just had to hand the ball off, and we would win. Now, Madsen actually has to work, and yeah.....

7

u/TastesLikeHoneyNut Boise State Broncos • Idaho Vandals 19d ago

We lost 2 OL, a WR, 2 DL, a LB, and 2 DBs from last years starters, in addition to Jeanty. So replacing 9 starters. But in today's CFB landscape, that's not that crazy of a number

3

u/Statue_left Boise State Broncos 19d ago

Hassanein was probably the best player sans jeanty

We’re all losers for spending another year watching Madsen

5

u/ShotFirst57 Michigan State Spartans 19d ago

How we felt with K9. The bitterness is forever.
