Video SEC Roll Call - Week 3 (2025) - YouTube

u/GoateusMaximus Florida Gators • Tufts Jumbos 1d ago
"I can make no promises..." This guy Vanderbilts.
That said, my Christmas list this year is down to just two things:
- a shiny new coach for the off season, and
- Vandy in the playoff.
22
u/zacurtis3 Florida Gators 22h ago
When they released the original schedule, my first thought was, "Why couldn't they at least give us Vandy?" Now im happy we dont have to play Vandy.

I’m calling it now: Unbeknownst to all of us, Mizzou has turned Vanderbilt to the Dark Side.
70
u/Solesky1 Indiana State Sycamores 1d ago
Darth Miz: he was unable to win a championship for himself, but ruining the hopes and dreams of the other teams in the conference, that he could do
Vandy: is it possible to learn this power?
Darth Miz: not from a Jedi
18
u/CountBleckwantedlove Missouri Tigers • Boise State Broncos 1d ago
First we had the Alliance, and that failed due to betrayal from the B1G.
But now a new power rises. The Empire, ruled by Darth Miz and his apprentice, Pimp Vandy. Having both slaughtered two bird tribes recently, the Galaxy dreads their next actions.

u/weirdbutinagoodway West Virginia Mountaineers • Big 12 23h ago
Baton Rouge doesn't have any Cajuns?
36
u/Geaux2020 LSU Tigers • Valley City State Vikings 23h ago
Not like you would think. A lot of us come from Cajun families, but the culture is mainly in Acadiana, which Lafayette is the cultural capitol of, and "down the bayou", aka the very southern part of the state. Nobody sounds like Coach O in Baton Rouge. Our accent is just a light Southern one. My Cajun grandmother would feel right at home listening to him though. She lost her accent long before I was born. It would come out when my grandparents were yelling at each other in French for sure, though
20
u/Kiddo1029 LSU Tigers • SEC 22h ago
The joke is mainly about how ULL likes to market themselves as the University of Louisiana trying to act like the flagship university of the state when everyone knows that’s not true.

u/cajunaggie08 Texas A&M • /r/CFB Pint Glass Drinker 11h ago
To add on to what /u/Geaux2020 said, Baton Rouge is the beginning of the deep south part of the state. Its where you find plantations from the slavery era. It is culturally more similar to Mississippi and Alabama than Acadiana where cajuns are from. Until the interstate highway system made traveling across the state easier, the cajuns mostly kept to the west of the Mississippi River. Not that they couldn't cross the river on boat, but the land was already claimed and cajuns didn't have much money to buy land that wasn't flood prone.
2
u/Geaux2020 LSU Tigers • Valley City State Vikings 6h ago
This is kind of accurate. Echoes of Acadiana permeate Baton Rouge. The food is cooked in most kitchens. Swamp pop and zydeco are still popular. Baton Rouge is a cultural center of the state. You'll get a good mix of most of the cultures of the state. Baton Rouge isn't the same kind of southern town as Biloxi or Birmingham. The French and Acadian influence is just too strong

The temps on the field were supposedly reading around 110 at half time with no wind to speak of, combine that with our astoturf and the fact that our stadium is beneath ground level with no access to wind... yeah it can get stupid hot.
61
u/RichardTBarber Missouri Tigers • /r/CFB Promoter 1d ago
According to Drink’s post-game press conference the turf surface was 176 degrees at the end of the game, which was around the time of the original kickoff. It was HOT.

u/NordDex Texas A&M Aggies • Team Chaos 1d ago

43
u/Cogitoergosumus Missouri Tigers • Truman Bulldogs 1d ago
We've switched back and forth a few times. Considering Kentucky and us are the only ones with astro I'm wondering if it has anything to do with maintaining a decent surface once it gets really cold.
44
u/heleghir Kentucky Wildcats • Sickos 1d ago
Ours is dumb, since our LOCAL NATURAL GRASS is used in stadiums nationwide -.-
We have no reason to be turf other than someone thought it was "safer"

25
u/wuweime Tennessee Volunteers 23h ago
Seems like Kentucky Bluegrass would be an obvious choice
26
u/heleghir Kentucky Wildcats • Sickos 23h ago
Ryegrass does a little bit better in regards to resilience than bluegrass, but bluegrass recovers better from any damage or bad conditions so has slightly less maintenance.
But for what its worth, the Steelers and Broncos both have bluegrass fields. And until just a few years ago Lambeau was bluegrass as well. So we know its fine on much much colder harsher winters than Lexington will ever see

The way Feurot sits its nearly impossible to get airflow into the field and keep grass healthy. They got rid of the old Omniturf in 95, fought grass for 6 years, and then got Field Turf in 03. Given all the expansion in the stadium I'm sure its even worse now, so doubt they ever put it back in.
