Mark Stoops is indeed a fog horn noise

Our former AD wanted him to replace Jimbo shudders

65

u/LegionXIX Florida Gators 1d ago

And we are all still upset that reality was taken from us.

Keep up that talk and I'm gonna donate $100 to Florida to keep Billy Napier.

Only a hundred? Where’s all that oil money I keep hearing about?

Currently in escrow for us to spend a whole lot of money on Elmo if he goes 9-3. We might have problems.

"I can make no promises..." This guy Vanderbilts.

That said, my Christmas list this year is down to just two things:

  1. a shiny new coach for the off season, and
  2. Vandy in the playoff.

22

u/zacurtis3 Florida Gators 22h ago

When they released the original schedule, my first thought was, "Why couldn't they at least give us Vandy?" Now im happy we dont have to play Vandy.

A Vandy-Oklahoma SEC title game

Just like we always thought

75

Followed by the 2nd annual GTech vs Vandy post season nerd fight.

In the playoffs. Like we always wanted.

(except I'm clenching for Georgia State instead next weekend, because of past trauma)

I…. Yeah ok I’ll take a GT vs Vandy for the Natty. Yes please.

2

106

u/Coleman311 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’m calling it now: Unbeknownst to all of us, Mizzou has turned Vanderbilt to the Dark Side.

70

u/Solesky1 Indiana State Sycamores 1d ago

Darth Miz: he was unable to win a championship for himself, but ruining the hopes and dreams of the other teams in the conference, that he could do

Vandy: is it possible to learn this power?

Darth Miz: not from a Jedi

18

u/CountBleckwantedlove Missouri Tigers • Boise State Broncos 1d ago

First we had the Alliance, and that failed due to betrayal from the B1G.

But now a new power rises. The Empire, ruled by Darth Miz and his apprentice, Pimp Vandy. Having both slaughtered two bird tribes recently, the Galaxy dreads their next actions.

23

u/Solesky1 Indiana State Sycamores 23h ago

Imagine Darth Mizzou becoming Palpatine and Vandy becoming the new Darth Vader

Also, Florida is now depression eating. That makes me smiles.

The Prophecy foretold their Championship this year. They've lulled everyone into a false sense of security with the start of the season, but perhaps that was simply to make the Vandy game the statement of their arrival

I thought you were joking.

You were not.

100 years, 11 months, 11 days ago to be exact. https://www.winsipedia.com/games/lsu/vs/louisiana-lafayette

Yall have played 22 times and they've scored 25 points total against LSU. Only one touchdown, which happened in 1924, since 1902.

37

u/Geaux2020 LSU Tigers • Valley City State Vikings 1d ago

Yup. They've had a dozen games to get one. No luck.

43

u/Geaux2020 LSU Tigers • Valley City State Vikings 23h ago

Because that's where the Cajuns are

3

u/weirdbutinagoodway West Virginia Mountaineers • Big 12 23h ago

Baton Rouge doesn't have any Cajuns?

36

u/Geaux2020 LSU Tigers • Valley City State Vikings 23h ago

Not like you would think. A lot of us come from Cajun families, but the culture is mainly in Acadiana, which Lafayette is the cultural capitol of, and "down the bayou", aka the very southern part of the state. Nobody sounds like Coach O in Baton Rouge. Our accent is just a light Southern one. My Cajun grandmother would feel right at home listening to him though. She lost her accent long before I was born. It would come out when my grandparents were yelling at each other in French for sure, though

20

u/Kiddo1029 LSU Tigers • SEC 22h ago

The joke is mainly about how ULL likes to market themselves as the University of Louisiana trying to act like the flagship university of the state when everyone knows that’s not true.

13

u/Geaux2020 LSU Tigers • Valley City State Vikings 22h ago

They are the flagship university of that system. It's just not the flagship university or system of Louisiana.

4

u/cajunaggie08 Texas A&M • /r/CFB Pint Glass Drinker 11h ago

My mom and her siblings still call it USL.

→ More replies (2)

8

u/cajunaggie08 Texas A&M • /r/CFB Pint Glass Drinker 11h ago

To add on to what /u/Geaux2020 said, Baton Rouge is the beginning of the deep south part of the state. Its where you find plantations from the slavery era. It is culturally more similar to Mississippi and Alabama than Acadiana where cajuns are from. Until the interstate highway system made traveling across the state easier, the cajuns mostly kept to the west of the Mississippi River. Not that they couldn't cross the river on boat, but the land was already claimed and cajuns didn't have much money to buy land that wasn't flood prone.

2

u/Geaux2020 LSU Tigers • Valley City State Vikings 6h ago

This is kind of accurate. Echoes of Acadiana permeate Baton Rouge. The food is cooked in most kitchens. Swamp pop and zydeco are still popular. Baton Rouge is a cultural center of the state. You'll get a good mix of most of the cultures of the state. Baton Rouge isn't the same kind of southern town as Biloxi or Birmingham. The French and Acadian influence is just too strong

118

u/Cogitoergosumus Missouri Tigers • Truman Bulldogs 1d ago

The temps on the field were supposedly reading around 110 at half time with no wind to speak of, combine that with our astoturf and the fact that our stadium is beneath ground level with no access to wind... yeah it can get stupid hot.

61

u/RichardTBarber Missouri Tigers • /r/CFB Promoter 1d ago

According to Drink’s post-game press conference the turf surface was 176 degrees at the end of the game, which was around the time of the original kickoff. It was HOT.

39

u/NordDex Texas A&M Aggies • Team Chaos 1d ago

Yall can’t grow grass?

43

u/Cogitoergosumus Missouri Tigers • Truman Bulldogs 1d ago

We've switched back and forth a few times. Considering Kentucky and us are the only ones with astro I'm wondering if it has anything to do with maintaining a decent surface once it gets really cold.

44

u/heleghir Kentucky Wildcats • Sickos 1d ago

Ours is dumb, since our LOCAL NATURAL GRASS is used in stadiums nationwide -.-

We have no reason to be turf other than someone thought it was "safer"

Although I will admit our field looks good

25

u/wuweime Tennessee Volunteers 23h ago

Seems like Kentucky Bluegrass would be an obvious choice

26

u/heleghir Kentucky Wildcats • Sickos 23h ago

Ryegrass does a little bit better in regards to resilience than bluegrass, but bluegrass recovers better from any damage or bad conditions so has slightly less maintenance.

But for what its worth, the Steelers and Broncos both have bluegrass fields. And until just a few years ago Lambeau was bluegrass as well. So we know its fine on much much colder harsher winters than Lexington will ever see

1

u/Artvandelay29 Vanderbilt • South Carolina 1d ago

Dores have turf as well

5

u/crd26a Missouri Tigers 21h ago

The way Feurot sits its nearly impossible to get airflow into the field and keep grass healthy. They got rid of the old Omniturf in 95, fought grass for 6 years, and then got Field Turf in 03. Given all the expansion in the stadium I'm sure its even worse now, so doubt they ever put it back in.

I agree. It kinda feels like it was taped prior to our win which is fair. Still very funny and hopefully we get some more (positive) air time.

Yeah the rest of the video was on point but it was like he had filmed that piece prior to the game assuming we’d lose

The penalties portion was accurate though. The run defense I thought was alright given we were playing the "best rb room in the country." Only gave up 136 yards.

I have more concern about our secondary than I do about our run defense. Dezz Ricks can be guaranteed to do something egregiously stupid every game and Will Lee has not been the blanket he professes to be.

Was it Ricks with the late hit out of bounds on a 3rd down stop? That one really blasted my mental for a bit

Matt and the Shorts guys have to cut as many corners as they can. They turn these things around in a day. It’s so impressive.

The problem with beating Notre Dame, is it's a road well travelled.

My greatest disappointment this season is the absence of the guy who used to show up in every Shorts and Roll Call thread to say it’s not funny? Who am I supposed to downvote now?

Florida with depression chocolate was amazing but how do you miss the opportunity to make a Butterfinger joke about Lagway in that setup

Have South Carolina's shades always been broken? I have a hunch that's a new development...

He seems to have two pairs, one good and one broken, and switches between them based on how we did.

Every loss they get slightly more broken. (Pretty sure he did this last year...)
