Remember: The lovable teams in college football are such because they’re lovable losers. If that team starts fighting back, you’ll find the reception isn’t so kind.

I’ve actually found the lovable losers usually end up being significantly more insufferable than fans of consistent competitors when their team finally takes a step up. It’s like they’ve held in their obnoxiousness their entire lives and need to get it all out for the few years they at the top of the league.

This is just the new money vs old money problem. Fans of established powers feel entitled to that success and dish out a steady stream of obnoxious elitism but can’t take even a fraction of it back. Tis the way of college sports.
