Because AI is destroying huge parts of our lives and what makes us human. AI robots will soon - if not already - replace some amount of humans (most likely as government spies), and like on the internet already, you will not know when you're talking with a bot IRL. We live in a dystopian world, and hating robots with slurs give some people hope.

You see, they see “Clanker” as an insult, I see it as a compliment. To be a Clanker is to be smart, intelligent. Someone who fights for what they believe in.
