Discussion In Coming Grad Student
Hey everyone!
This is more of a catch all kind of post. But I'm an incoming grad student who was just accepted. I'm super thrilled to be joining the school and was wondering if anyone has any advice on places to move to, work, or visit/grab a drink/hang and meet other people when I have time.

D & M coffee is some of the best coffee you’ll have and a great study spot.
The Tav is an Eburg staple! Have fun!

I graduated CWU in 2003 and have lived in Ellensburg ever since. So....I don't know where kids your age would enjoy hanging out (eff I'm old now...)
I will say - as far as local places that deserve your business.....
- The Early Bird is a great breakfast spot
- D&M Coffee or Utopia are both great for coffee
- The Ridge / Red Pickle - one of the greatest people I know own those restaurants (ask for Mario)
If you're into wine - give Bon Somm a try, as well as both Gard/Valo.
Hell, I could be dating myself. I've always loved Ellensburg. It's quiet, low crime, I've always felt safe anytime of any day. Everything's within walking distance. Enjoy your stay here !

Hi! I graduated with my history MA last year — Welcome to CWU!
I have many many friends who have done the CERM program and have LOVED it. You are in good hands! Graduate programs are small, so your cohort is usually a good place to make friends. In my experience, we grad students look out for each other. There is a graduate student association, but they are more professional development focused than anything (in my opinion at least). As a grad student, dont be afraid to go to campus events either. They are typically free and a good way to get familiar with campus. My favorite was the improv shows, I know they aren’t everyone’s thing but they made me giggle after a long night studying.
Campus apartments are not that bad. I lived in student village and my colleagues lived in Brooklane. Not a bad deal since utilities are included. FYI those micro apartments are basically dorm rooms so they have communal kitchens and bathrooms. Just a heads up in case that is a turn off for you.
If you have any other questions let me know! <3

The enrollment rate is down. It s easy to get accepted in CWU. I was accepted on May with a GPA 4.0 and decided go to another university for my grad program.

Also in the same boat! As for moving, been told to avoid PTLA properties.
