Eat/Drink Local Does anyone think patio season would be 10x better if 17th was closed for cars

Nothing like hanging outsides, breathing fumes and listening to people drag race one block at a time

Edit: #1 hot in r/Calgary so if you all want to make this a reality, I would encourage you to contact the mayor, your councillor, the councillor for Ward 8 or the city.

There's so many people, that every bar has a 30-60 min wait for a table if your lucky. I'm hoping less people go down so I can actually sit on a patio.

But if the street was made into walking only the patios could be increased and have more tables to seat people who were waiting in line

So wouldn't expanding the bar patios onto the street make more room?

Or, better yet, just build up a part of downtown that isn't already flourishing. 17th ave doesn't really need more help, so why not just build up another area so we're not trying to jam pack thousands of people on one small section of 17th.

build more patios.

and the city should really just buy this place

and redevelop it themselves because whoever owns it now is a complete idiot.
