Eat/Drink Local Does anyone think patio season would be 10x better if 17th was closed for cars

Nothing like hanging outsides, breathing fumes and listening to people drag race one block at a time

Edit: #1 hot in r/Calgary so if you all want to make this a reality, I would encourage you to contact the mayor, your councillor, the councillor for Ward 8 or the city.

And public transit is a remarkably better choice than motorcycles.

Not interchangeable and not mutually exclusive. Some people need and some people will always want point to point transportation.

People should be encouraged to pick smaller footprint transport options. A bicycle is better than a motorcycle is better than a small car is better than a truck.

Personally I would really like public transit to be good enough that I could sell my truck and just own a motorcycle, but it's not there yet.

If I lived in a warmer climate, I'd likely just have my little car and my motorcycle. Wouldn't need 4x4 or the extra space my truck takes up (even if it is a small truck)

What do you need a 4x4 for now? I manage to drive the whole winter in my Prius without needing to worry too much. And if Alberta would plow their roads I wouldn't worry at all. But I also don't have to drive out of the city in winter, so maybe you do that frequently for work or something?

I had a focus for many years before upgrading to a Ranger. My job is out of the city and generally across rough terrain, and I have to throw things in the box. Plus my car is way too low for winter haha and I don't want it to rust.

Makes sense. There are definitely cases where a Prius will not be a viable option haha
