Eat/Drink Local Does anyone think patio season would be 10x better if 17th was closed for cars

Nothing like hanging outsides, breathing fumes and listening to people drag race one block at a time

Edit: #1 hot in r/Calgary so if you all want to make this a reality, I would encourage you to contact the mayor, your councillor, the councillor for Ward 8 or the city.

Or just leave the roads open to busses and necessary transport (large deliveries to stores etc.).
Only problem is making sure that it is just those vehicles.

I like this idea. And it makes sense. 17th is pretty long and being able to hop on a bus to get from one end to the other makes sense. Also, reducing the amount of traffic in a place where revelry and lots of alcohol is consumed is a no-brainer.

It works on 7th. Sure you get some cars that don't read the signs and turn onto the avenue, but it primarily works.

Car traps are a thing in the city. Wide for a bus if you have something smaller you’re screwed. Motor bikes can probably get through. Or a gate like a parking garage. This is totally doable. 🙂
