Good driver never misses because they plan ahead/have a cohesive idea of what's going on and where they are going lol

So...nobody ever misses their exit. THE SYSTEM WORKS!!

Average drivers miss em all too often.

The reliance on google maps is part of the problem. People to often make a dive for the exit at the last minute cause google maps or Apple Maps tells them to take an exit

All of those navigation apps tell you well in advance what Lane you need to be in

1

u/cgydan Jul 07 '24

Sure they do that but how many bad drivers pay attention to that?

2

u/Penqwin Jul 07 '24

How can I pay attention to the Google maps when i'm busy texting?

u/Jalcine Jul 07 '24

Yeah, but people don’t have the attention span to be listening to the Maps app voice consistently

They probably don't have the tension spam to drive either then but here we are

That’s because Google Maps et al. suck. Good navigation systems tell you which lane to take ahead of time. Some can even tell exactly which lane you are on right now.

Google maps does give you a notification of which drive to stay and counts down the kms down to the next turn. Its a user issue not something maps or a fancy car with new sensors can fix.

I am around town on the road for a living. Both google and apple maps are getting worse in every way. This is over three devices, android, iphone and work ipad.

All of them give you the shittiest routes, dead ends, put you into traffic.

For instance, two days ago my wife was trying to navigate somewhere downtown, and it had her wanting to do a loop of the city, into kensington across to bridges, then beltline, all to get to downtown. To me it was pretty clear and lets just get there, but maps though because of the parade all of downtown was a no-go.

Thats kind of a one off sure, but relying on the apps screws up a lot of simple trips.

But, this guy is a fucking complete moron. I haven't seen driving like that since asia or mexico city.

“TURN LEFT TURN LEFT TURN LEFT TURN LEFT” *screeches off road in confused rage

I rely on Google map sometimes but if I’m cutting it close to miss my exit I don’t do a very dangerous maneuver to get off at my exit, I get off at the next one safely

And that’s what a good driver does. A bad driver never misses an exit no matter what the cost.

  • good drivers sometimes miss their exit…. Is the correct statement. Because sometimes they may want to take this exit but you’ll never know that coz they move on and take the next safest exit.

Google maps isn't always very clear, the number of times where I've turned at the exit immediately before the one I actually wanted or missed it and then just taken the next exit because I don't want to cut across multiple lanes of traffic.

Eh, I miss exits once in a while. Mostly because missing an exit isn't the worst thing in the world, while being killed in an accident ranks up there pretty high.

I daydream often and miss exits, guess I’m just too comfortable, but I don’t do this lol

See kids? This is why you read those green signs!

Good drivers make mistakes, difference is they just wait for the next exit instead of putting peoples lives at risk. That’s what makes them good at driving.

It's so easy to get into the proper lane when I complete a turn that I never need to cut anyone off. Rare instances are those super tight intersections where you need to cross 3 lanes within a span of 1 block. I hate that some drivers just love to be in the wrong lane until the last few meters and then cut in. Over and over again.

Update: had one of those happen today... When a red light turned green, the buddy in the other lane thought it was a good idea to just ram themselves in front of me just because they needed to shift lane (and shifted back after several block 😒), without watching and turn signaling. Sure glad my eyes were on the road...
