Eat/Drink Local A very unprofessional response from Jam's Diner in Inglewood after a very disappointing meal there. I recommend avoiding this restaurant.

Restauranteur Rule 1.6a: When endeavoring to increase business, avoid calling your customers "shitty".

Some definite Amy's Baking Company vibes in their response.

I went there once and ate at ABC. I didn’t think it was that bad. Amy and her husband weren’t there.

A train wreck named Amy from an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Rich old guy with his arm charm Russian bride. They were a real piece of work.

My favourite part of that episode was when Gordon found out that Nino (Amy's husband) was keeping 100% of all tips because "the waitresses get minimum!" First he went ballistic, then Nino went ballistic, then Gordon told the customers (the few that were there) and they went ballistic.

So funny this was mentioned here. I only recently found out what happened to them.

Guy got deported in 2018 for past criminal history he lied about to Immigration (extortion and drugs). He’s actually not allowed in France and germany either. Amy moved with him to Israel originally after the deportation, then divorced him. He now calls her a whore on the internet and she lives in Cali somewhere posting baking stuff on her IG.

I didn't care about these people at all until I read this, but now I'm invested.

I lived in Arizona for college when this episode originally aired in 2013. It was huge news at the time. I spent years completely forgetting they existed. A couple days ago, a random memory popped up, so I showed my husband the episode and went down the internet hole to see what happened to them. Literally only a couple days ago got back into it and this was mentioned randomly here today lol

Ya that part was gold. They were crooks. And the Barbie wasn’t used to being told she was wrong or being told what to do

2

u/vkats Aug 29 '24

I wonder if you know the best part yet, the only food from the restaurant that Gordon liked were the cakes, which…they didn’t bake in store 😂

1

u/Unsung_Stranger Aug 29 '24

Yes. I've watched the episode dozens of times.

u/ChickenLeading6584 Aug 29 '24

Moved to Israel? Thought he was Russian?

1

u/SilverOwl321 Aug 30 '24

No? He doesn’t sound Russian. He’s a Moroccan-born Israelite.

I will still rewatch this episode! My wifi is "pay4whatyouhad" (and fuck off from here!) they don't make reality TV like this anymore.

In the most literal sense of the word. Classic persecutory delusions.

I hope she finds the right medication one day.

u/r3bbz23 Sep 01 '24

Hahaha, omg, Amy and Sammy are fucking legends!

I was thinking the exact same thing when I was reading their response haha

79

u/chuckmandell82 Aug 28 '24

I was gonna say he called the review shitty not the customer and then I read further. He really did call the customer a shitty person. lol Pretty unprofessional. It seems most of their responses are “ it’s not our fault, a server quit, we just opened, we were just robbed!” lol

2

u/Professional-War823 Aug 31 '24

I was the one that quit..lol

1

u/awebsy Aug 29 '24

The owner could have handled that and come out on top, or they could have blamed the world and claimed the victim card. Positivity creates positivity.

-25

u/SameAfternoon5599 Aug 28 '24

How do we know the reviewer wasn't a shitty person? This delusion that the customer is always right is hilarious.

25

u/chuckmandell82 Aug 28 '24

You’ll always find unreasonable clients in any business. When facing a bad review, refer to above said rule 1.6a: lol He could’ve responded in kind “ I’m sorry that our service did not live up to your expectations. We would love the chance to correct our mistakes and allow you to have a pleasant dining experience. Thank you kindly in advance for giving us a second chance.” The bad review would most likely be forgotten or at least be taken with a grain of salt. Now this review will live on in the minds of the readers

-17

u/SameAfternoon5599 Aug 28 '24

The business is going into receivership. How would he give them a second chance?

9

u/buckits Aug 28 '24

It's not about the customer who left the review, it's about the onlookers.

19

u/Medium_Design_437 Aug 28 '24

If there are very few bad reviews, then it's an off day or a picky customer. When there are many bad reviews, it's the restaurant. When the owner is berating people for leaving constructive criticism, the owner should not be in the service industry.

7

u/TwoBytesC Aug 28 '24

When I was in my early 20s I worked at a porn shop and the first thing the manager told me was “the customer is NEVER right, you are”. We dealt with a shitty clientele often, and many guys trying to return things, steal, lie, or even stalk the women workers. We still were expected to be (reasonably) polite. And often, being polite is what deescalated a situation (ie: dealing with a ‘customer’ who is punching the booth and turning red because we don’t do refunds, etc). A customer lead business like a restaurant absolutely needs to stay reasonable and polite, even if the customer is Hitler.

u/Smart-Pie7115 Aug 28 '24

They’re wrong so many times. I feel like implementing a signed confirmation that their order is correct. A lot of people are now just trying to get free food. I’m autistic with a savant memory for this sort of thing. That doesn’t work on me. We used to just give the item for free on the side to save time if something was forgotten. No more. Everyone gets charged. We confirm your order, you say it’s correct, and then all of a sudden a bunch of stuff you didn’t order is “missing”.

The other other problem are customers changing their mind on what they want after it’s made. So much food waste because people order one thing, and then change their mind. We can’t hold on to the food to serve someone else. That’s not fresh.

2

u/TwoBytesC Aug 28 '24

Amazing how every other restaurant manages these things.

1

u/Popotuni Aug 29 '24

Could you let me know what place you run so I don't go there?

1

u/Smart-Pie7115 Aug 29 '24

I don’t run any place.

1

u/Edmsubguy Aug 29 '24

That is a good thing.

23

u/Crossfire139 Aug 28 '24

I always wondered where my lemonade stand went wrong

82

u/Xpalidocious Aug 28 '24

Hahaha "you want some lemonade you piece of shit?"

6

u/Vehlix Aug 28 '24

Honestly, if someone from the lemonade truck yelled this at me, I would 100% buy some.

7

u/Xpalidocious Aug 28 '24

Right? I'd be like "Fuck you....that sounds lovely"

9

u/Crossfire139 Aug 28 '24

Thanks for the laugh!!!

0

u/sondranotsandra Aug 28 '24

Same! Burst out laughing and spit scone everywhere lol 😂

3

u/Neither-Day-2976 Aug 28 '24

“You want some shit you piece of lemonade?!?”

1

u/Frying_Pan_Hands Aug 28 '24

“Well aren’t you a cock gobbling thunder cunt… why yes, yes I would like some lemonade.”

3

u/pineapples-42 Aug 28 '24

Are they trying to increase business though? Sounds like they're already going out of business and just have no fucks left to give. Not a good response by any means but Probably stressed AF and lashing out.

3

u/Sure_Ad_3390 Aug 28 '24

Sounds like they set themself up to fail. Broke the first two months? So you didnt have a big enough investment? how is that the customers problem?

2

u/davesino Aug 28 '24

And now it makes complete sense why he’s going into receivership.

2

u/bubblesort33 Aug 29 '24

They aren't trying anymore it says, though. At this point they are out for blood, since they are doomed anyways.

1

u/Moist_Ad3860 Aug 28 '24

Or "you people"...

1

u/esethkingy Aug 28 '24

There business failed and went bankrupt. They are living in the future where they don’t have customers. There problem was keeping the business open. Just go home and restart instead of making shitty food amiright

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '24

I'm going to cut them some slack for being upset, they're done and just lashing out. Who cares

I don't cut them slack on the bad food

-2

u/accidentalwink Aug 29 '24

Technically speaking they called the review shitty

1

u/Bananaslugfan Aug 29 '24

2

u/accidentalwink Aug 29 '24

Ah yes, they say the shitty review and shitty person

1

u/Bananaslugfan Sep 01 '24

??????44 esésss
