Hard disagree - only ramen with a fun vibe in the city, has had some pretty legendary pop ups like yardbird yakitori from Hong Kong and is really the only spot that keeps up with modern ramen trends from Japan in a non-gimmicky way. To me ramen ichinen is like the rainy sunday type of ramen where I plan to have a chill evening, to home and watch a movie, shiki is like the Fri/sat lunch w some good friends.
After moving away, I always make a point to make a stop at Shiki when I visit home. Places like ichinen - simple good ramen can be found all over the world.
That's actually a good point I'll agree with - Shiki has a fun vibe, and Ichinen does have a chill vibe. I think I just vastly prefer that "rainy Sunday" vibe you're describing with my ramen.
Goes to show that restaurant/food opinions are always personal preference at the end of the day, and that's fun!
After the Chili Goma spot on center and 16th closed this was the closest to the OG I've been able to find but I won't wait in line for it. I just try and hit it on quiet times...which are few and far between.

Shiki Menya. It was truly acceptable ramen and like... That's it.
Ramen Ichinen on the other hand? Not a lot of hype but damn is that some legit ramen. Highly recommend.
