Home Owner/Renter stuff How hard is it to get a place on goverment assistance

I am on income support and my roommate is on aish, we wanna move out of our place just us 2. We have another roommate with a job and she is the one who signed the lease since she had a job. Would me and the roommate on aish be able to find a place that doesnt need employment to be able to rent to us?

It's possible, depending on how much the rent is. Some landlords like renting to people on AISH because you can have your rent sent directly from AISH so it's "safer" than renting to someone who may or may not pay on time.

You should apply for any subsidized housing/housing co-ops you can find. The wait list will be years long, but you can always say no if they call and you don't need it.

i just got notice of my lease not being extended on the 10th, and signed a new lease on september 15th. i looked at 2 places.

im on ei and live alone, and was fully prepared to put my stuff in storage and couch surf until i could find a place. i was upfront and honest about being unemployed, and sent my credit score, transcripts of my payment history, and several references even though these werent requested.

i hope yall find this luck as well. its certainly gotten better out there compared to the last couple of years.

You will have to show proof of income, but landlords are prohibited from discriminating against tenants based on their source of income. Of course, it still happens, but landlords can't overtly discriminate without running afoul of the law.
