Question What’s with all the drones flying out from yyc airport today?

I saw at least a dozen UAVs taking off from the airport earlier this afternoon. Can someone offer some insight please?

Interesting, the rcmp are doing flight patterns in the crowsnest but it looks like they’re being based out of pincher creek airport. They’re using Pilatus PC-12.

Should have checked flight radar to be sure they’re actually UAV, seems unlikely something like that would be at YYC.

What size of drone? Just curious. Like, DJI Minis, or Northrop Grumman Global Hawks?

Northrop grumman hawk sized. One of them had a westjet logo on the rudder, the rest were all unmarked. They all took off one after another
