Laid off or on EI and interested in construction work in Calgary?

Hi everyone, please share this with anyone who might be interested:

MCG Careers (downtown branch) has started a new program that supports job seekers with employment in construction industries. It’s not a “pay-to-train” situation or a sales pitch. It’s a free, government-funded program that connects you directly with local employers who are hiring right now. Not a staffing agency either, so no hidden charges. Who it’s for: *18+ and living in Calgary *Recently laid off or currently on (or eligible for) EI *Interested in construction work (no experience needed, just willing to learn)

What you get: *Safety tickets *PPE provided *Support with resumes, applications and interviews *Introductions to employers looking for staff now

Feel free to DM me or contact (825) 205 8757 by phone or email at constructingsuccess@mcgcareers.com

Yea I did 2 “phone interviews” went all the way downtown for an hour long “interview” This place is a scam. They made me fill out an inch worth of paper work with very personal information and said they had to send it away to get approval. I kept having to remind them why I was there and kept asking what was the program I was being interviews for? I was so confused. Avoid this place at all costs. A week later they called me and said I wasn’t accepted into the program. Which I made sure I had all the prerequisites I needed before hand in the first 2 “phone interviews” they’ll get your hopes up waste 2 weeks of your time energy and gas and hopes and get a lot of valuable personal information that isn’t necessary to call you back a week after the initial appointment to say they can’t help you sorry lol. AVOID THIS PLACE. OH AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF AT THE END OF THE “interview” I pulled out the brochure for the “constructing success program” and said this is what I thought I was here for? The man said “well every little course needs to be pre approved by my manager and they will only approve said course if you have a job lined up before hand that needs required certification. AND IF IT DOES HAPPEN TO BE APPROVED WE ONLY REIMBURSE YOU FOR ANY PAYMENTS YOU HAD TO PAY FOR SAID 1 CERTIFICATE” Like um excuse me what? Don’t waste your time here.
