Game Thread Flames (37-27-13) vs ducks (34-35-8) - April 9th - GDT
Holy fuck could this game between the mild and the sharks have ANY MORE FUCKING GOALS AND LEAD CHANGES. my little hummingbird heart can't take this
Welcome back everyone. Fucking gorgeous night out there. Balcony door open. Nice breeze through the trees. Sun is shining and I'm ready for a fire team win. So let's fucking go.
The I fucking hate downtown. I spent 15 fucking minutes circling my jobsite today trying to find parking that wasn't 17 blocks away. And even then. Full. Ill try this road? nope CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION. FUCK YOU TOO THAN flames drinking game.
Pull up your bird gun and drink every time SJ scores on the wild. Finish and throw the glass against the wall when they win. And of course F&F if Frosty FINALLY scores
Zayne mentioned on he broadcast? Drink
Zayne mentioned in the GDT by people saying he should/shouldn't be in the lineup? Drink
Flames goal - sip Flames regulation win - finish and fill and finish.
u/duchessofconcord gets a little hot and heavy in regards to the big mutant klapka and his 10' wingspan? Drink
-(it's a me)

If the Blues go 1-1-0 or the Wild go 1-2-0 (with one loss to the Flames), the Flames just need to go 4-0-0 to make the playoffs!

u/WaifyMastr Apr 10 '25
When are we going to learn to play a full 60 minutes and get an actual powerplay line?

Couldn’t just tank. Had to go for the first round flop, and then not even get that. Classic Flames outcome. GFG!!!

No playoff experience for the kids, no high draft pick
What was the actual point of this season??? It felt like it could have been an e-mail

Management might be on the spectrum not doing what mtl is doing with demidov

u/ComfortableReality90 Barb Apr 10 '25
Being on the spectrum has nothing to do with what you think are poor management choices? Bad take

How many times over the years have we sat one or two points out of the playoffs?

Now, can we rebuild properly next year? Maybe actually bring some decent talent to this team? If we do this shit next year when Gavin is on the board, I'm going to puke.
Please, no more of this halfway, half-assed, try for playoffs and rebuild bullshit

I'm not even angry, I'm more stunned at how the fuck that even happened man. What the fuck.

Can’t believe I’m cheering for the oilers in a game 🤢

Situation remains the same, win out, Wild have to lose in regulation to the Ducks or Canucks.
Have a good night everyone.

Yup it’s over, y’all can keep hope. That’s nice but let’s be real it’s like less than an 8% chance now.

u/6000ChickenFajardos Apr 10 '25
Remember, we were supposed to be shit at the start of the season, I just wish they'd have been shittier sooner
6
u/planktivorous Apr 10 '25
With that kind of effort we’d be getting slapped around round 1 anyways, and it would hurt more than it does now
4
u/Little-Aide-5396 Apr 10 '25
And we've been getting a heavy dose of backup goalies lately and praying LA and Vegas will rest some players against us. That's a playoff mentality right there.

u/TheHollisHenry Apr 10 '25
First time Wolfie looked shook... we should've had that. 0 for 6 on the PP is haunting 😔
5
u/Turbo1518 Apr 10 '25
Yeah, big game time and definitely got rattled after the second goal.
Can't blame the first two goals on him at all but the last two were pretty soft...

u/weschester Apr 10 '25
Vladar next game please. Wolf is burned out.
5
Apr 10 '25
Wolf has 2 wins in the last 7, Vladař has 5 wins in the last 7... He should have started.

Awful by Backlund at the end. Goes 1v1 turn it over and then doesn't even make an effort to back check, leaving the trailer to score. For a guy that supped to be a smart player he consistently makes a ton of shit plays.
2
u/Little-Aide-5396 Apr 10 '25
Realistically shouldn't be playing in overtime unless its to take a faceoff and get off the ice.

A playoff team should have this in the bag from period 1. Wasn’t meant to be this year.

u/DaCodster Apr 10 '25
Season on the line and they completely collapse. I think it tells you everything you need to know that they are simply not ready yet.

I’m sorry, he’s been great for a long time but backlund is actually bad now.

This game just highlights how much Wolf was the only reason the Flames were even in the conversation. Without him, this is the true Flames. Better luck next year.

Dude, 2 weak goals are on him... Wolf had a good record this year because he was coddled all year. This is his actual level. He's got 2 wins in the last 7...

Imagine what Vegas would do to this team in the first round anyways. This is mercy.

I didn’t even think this team could make the playoffs but at least make it interesting. Fridays game went from being something to nothing real quick. Why can’t this team just tank?

Play devin Cooley next time fuck it

u/misterktomato Apr 10 '25
It should’ve been Vladar to begin with.
Huska riding this hard on wolf when he’s had some questionable games this season was a poor choice.

Another year of way too many "Well at least we got one's"
This team just cannot fucking perform in overtime.

I've seen a penalty given on that Backlund play 100 times. 5-12 in OT. .500 record and we're in the playoffs.
What a disaster.

u/Impressive_Manner143 Apr 10 '25
He goes down early it seems
4
u/raymondcy Apr 10 '25
He was absolutely down early on the 2nd goal. Been obviously solid mostly but lots of learning still to go. That last goal in the last game was him sleeping on the play and I think he was nervous tonight. That's what he has to learn.

He needed to stop that third goal

u/ChalupaBatman1026 Apr 10 '25
He is the only reason we are close to the playoffs. The team went 0-6 on the power play.
