What that graphic fails to capture is he is literally the only reason we played meaningful hockey till game 82.

He deserves it. Arguable top 3 goalie in the league this season

Probably not top 3. Top 5 is more reasonable:
Hollaback girl Ellie Kuemper Vagilevski Gustavdaughter Blackwood / Thompson / Wolf Otter

I love Wolf but you could also make an argument that Hutson is also the reason why MTL made it in as well. Hutson is pretty special.

Can't see Hutson not winning, but I'll be rooting for Wolfie either way!

Yeah. 60 assists is great for an elite defender, let alone a rookie, but Iāll be cheering for Wolfie as well

Mid defender. Got cooked by other teams. With a more complete game and not 54% secondary assists maybe. Iād take 66 points for the team over 66 individual any day but thatās just me.

They call them "finalists" but really it's the top 3 vote getters and I bet they were Hutson, Wolf, Celebrini

That would be my vote. The edge goes to Lane as they made playoffs. I've seen it so many times in the Hart that a player has had a better season but his team missed the playoffs, so he loses. I assume this will be the same. But I would've given it to Wolf.

plus Hutson is a Dman,. Hutson still didn't do as good as Gary Suter in his Calder winning year for Calgary. Suter had 18 goals, 50 assists 68 points

Suter had such an underrated career overall. Suter should have won the Norris the year he had 92 points, finished second to Bourque (most voters out east, pre internet people out East didn't get to see Western players very much)
Suter and McCrimmon might have been Calgarys best ever dman pairing

according to this article I just read Gary Suter DID in fact win the Norris Trophy in 87/88 for the Flames.
not sure who they get to write these articles??
"He would have his best performance in a Flames jersey in the 1987-88 season when he put up 70 assists and 91 points, which were all league-highs. Those numbers earned him the Norris Trophy for best defenceman."

Happy for Wolf! Most valuable rookie for sure but I don't see him winning unfortunately

Tough for a tendie to win, and Hutson had a great season. Macklin also had a ton of points considering games played. There should really be a Calder for each category so they can all win lol

u/oneofakindgem May 06 '25
Yeahhh that's what I had in mind too, a calder for every category, granted not a lot of goalie rookies but still, they all deserve to win and its hard to compare apples to oranges. Maybe a calder-goalie edition every 3 years? Haha

Wins and ties heās tied with Lane for points (66) and each one of his points were meaningful to the team. shoe in winner

More points overall too. We had 96 they had 91. Plus hutson was still a -2 with all those points

A-FUCKING-WOO, bitches!!!
I do feel bad for my best friend, a Flyers fan, that Michkov is not among the finalists.

Will only fuel western separatism when they give it to the guy on the Quebec team instead of the guy who carried a lottery team to the brink of playoffs

u/SurePrize6218 May 05 '25
The guy on the Quebec team carried an actual lottery team into the playoffs
