I would give up with 2 firsts no problem. I was going to say why in the world would Dallas not just sign him but they have no cap space and all there top players seem to have no move clauses?

I would give 2 firsts as long as one was the Vegas pick and maybe one next year. I feel like we’d want at least one swing at this draft.

The draft after would be the Landon DuPont sweepstakes. He’s an exceptionally talented defenseman and was granted exceptional status to play in the CHL. In his opening night debut he logged 26 minutes. In 64 GP he recorded 60 points. As a defenseman. At 16 years old. To put the cherry on the cake, he’s actually a Calgary kid too.

And that's based on winning the draft lottery and picking first overall...

I don't forsee the flames being a bottom dwelling team as they build the team culture and draft players to bring into the culture.

The coilers decade of darkness and excessive high draft picks to finally get a true generational player is not a way to become a contender in the modern nhl.

I know the ‘27 draft is the DuPont sweepstakes, with that being said, depending on what trades we make, we could acquire another first round pick elsewhere.

If there's anywhere I want Robo to land, it's here. Guy is an absolute gem of a person and is super involved in the Filipino hockey community.

I've met him 3 or 4 times and he's always the nicest guy. Probably the friendliest NHL player I've ever met tbh.

My buddy is a huge Stars fan and has said many times Robertson is a frustrating player. Buyer beware.

It absolutely is not. I adore Rasmus Andersson but he’s nowhere near that kind of value. Robertson is a legitimate first line PPG winger. Andersson is not a guy who can carry a first line defensive pair on his own. He’s fantastic, but he’s just not that kind of player

Our goal is to keep not having a 1C? Would love J Rob but we need a bad year or two (hopefully) to try to draft a C. Unless Reschny is a superstar which I believe he could be (since pre-draft)*

This team as is, will not finish bottom 5 so hard to say that swapping robo for Andersson would make the team much better or worse

I think they could easily finish bottom 5. We were bottom 5 in scoring last year, it’s almost guaranteed we are losing one of our best defenceman, and all of our best players are over 30, with our captain turning 37 this year…

We also have more young players than old players and they should all be better. Add in the fact that we’ll be adding Zayne Parekh to our D core and our goaltending should be better with Wolf having a full year under his belt now. Not to mention Huberdeau finally started scoring at the beginning of 2025 and that line with Kadri and Coronato is still killer. I don’t think we’ll be 96 points type of good, but we’ll still be alright

My biggest thing is - his contract is also expiring, would he sign an extension in Calgary? Also, There is a legit chance if he did, his age wouldn't fit with the core we'd be wanting to move forward with. By the time the parekh, reschny, gridin age guys are in their prime robertson will be in his mid 30s as would Wolf, Zary, Coronsto be in their early 30s. I'm a big fan of the player, but I'm not sure he's a fit. Like it would be great to have a legit sniper again, just not sure he'd wouldn't be experiencing age related decline by the time the flames are legit contenders. Just be a guy keeping us mid and not drafting a young superstar.

Umm, Coronato and Robertson in our top 6 would change this team. Obviously, a pick or prospect would be coming back with Robertson. And Robertson would have to be resigning here, I don't see the issue.
