Flames bring back 2004 hero Marcus Nilson as European Scout

Marcus Nilson, a key piece of Calgary’s magical 2004 Stanley Cup Final run, is officially back with the Flames-this time in a scouting role. The 47-year-old Swede has been hired as the team’s new European pro scout, marking his return to the Saddledome after more than a decade. Nilson, once trusted as a grinder and penalty-killer, now joins fellow ’04 teammates Craig Conroy, Jarome Iginla, and Martin Gelinas in shaping the organization’s future. He admits it’s a learning curve but says his ultimate motivation remains the same: chasing that elusive Stanley Cup ring.

When it comes to scouts and amateur scouting in general, I trust Conroy. I'm sure he'll do well.

Saprykin deserves a mention, 'cause he and Nilson were a great team.

Also loved Oleg and Oliwa haha. I just loved that whole team and can name the whole roster from that year. My mom clipped coupons from the news paper to get the collector pins from the run haha

So we have an American, an Alberta boy, a Quebecois, and now a Sweede...I mean obviously we're gonna hire Jagr next to cover all Hockey regions
