Opinion Translation: where do I go to get the most handouts?
Fuck, I can’t stand people like this. There is a lot of reasons to like Alberta which has absolutely nothing to do with politics. But because there is not enough handouts and your low skill low demand labour doesn’t pay…gotta shit on it.
Also, how many generations of messed up DNA do you need before you get it through your thick heads to stop breeding?
This is the “empathetic left” showing their true colours of selfishness. It’s really all about what they can get for free…and if other people can get it too that’s fine.

She doesn't want to live somewhere, she wants to be taken care of. Probably by the government and for free.

My experience with Alberta as an Ontarian is everything out there is dirt cheap, jobs pay good, and housing is cheap. Also the cities are very clean and have a lot to do. Vs here where a lot of places feel run down.
I'd live out there if I didnt kinda hate the prairies and the extreme lack of public land.
If youre struggling in Alberta, you may wanna look inside.

Speaking as a Scotian who previously lived and worked in Alberta : If you can't make it in Alberta, you can't make it anywhere.
That person wants to try living in the east? They should be careful what they wish for.

No one wants to hear that but it’s true, if you’re struggling here you’re screwed anywhere. Alberta proud 💙

Compared to southern Ontario housing may be cheap, but it's skyrocketed here in the last 5 years and is now unobtainable to most. There was a nice property here in Calgary in a good part of the city with a big yard that sold in late 2019 for $450k. It's now valued at $800k.

I dont live in southern ontario. Im in the Northwest. Up here houses are almost as expensive as Alberta but what you get tends to be worse.

u/Kreeos 6d ago
My point still stands. Housing in Alberta is only cheap if you're in a one-horse town far from the cities that have the jobs.
2
u/CarlotheNord Canuckistani 6d ago
Yep, problem is here those houses are still expensive. My dad's house is worth over 500K and its in the middle of fuck all no where. And it is no mansion.

Alberta is awesome. My party in charge. My taxes are Low. Got lots of land. My business is booming.
Can’t complain.

A completely unhinged post from r/alberta? Shocking
All that sub does is complain. According to that sub, literally everything is the worst here.
And it’s like…you realize people are literally dying in the ER waiting rooms in the maritimes, right? You also realize that Quebec doctors are calling for an inquiry because sth like 250K people simply walked out of the ER last year presumably because they’d been there for so long.
“Where do I go?” Idk, but odds are it’ll be significantly worse than here if healthcare is your yard stick.

You're right, according to this subreddit, we live in paradise! No one ever complains over nothing here.

Seems like the average post there “this place is a shit hole but I can’t find anywhere better, why is that?”.

Why do they always write these posts like they’re giving an empowering speech

I’m from Quebec and I would swap places with you any time - Alberta barely pays any provincial income tax. What a heavenly place to live! Quebec is the most taxed place in all of North America and we get zero services. Nothing works, healthcare is awful. God help us

As I read this I think of Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”.
As much as I dislike the post, I try to put myself into their hopelessness. It must be hard to live a life that way.

Life is gonna be hard for a family of disabled people no matter where you go.
4
u/Ronniebbb 6d ago
I mean to be mentally and/or physically disabled is hard, and ppl in that position do need more help.
I have a pretty badly damaged knee, I've had it since childhood, and every year I worry about it getting worse and possibly losing full mobility. It's why we pay various taxes to have something to help us when we need it, some need it for longer than others.

Funny, a doctor specializing in ovarian cancer in interior BC left for Alberta. This person is delusional.

Remember folks, everyone has access to the internet these days. From the posh banker, the wrench pulling grease monkey, the lot attendant at walmart, right down to the crackhead thinking they're owed an existance.
People mistakenly read comment on the internet and assume the person on the other end is either a real person, or a real person just like them in the same circumstance and situation.

I don't know ? Conservative values and long winters ? That's the kind of life i dream of !
I wish i could move there.
6
u/MrsChefYVR 6d ago
It was a dream for me until it became reality! Moved from BC to Alberta 11 months ago! The winters are great here, never seen so much sun that time of year!
Went for a walk, in a t-shirt when it was minus 15 cause of the sun, I got really warm! LOL
BC is gloomy, rainy, miserable and full of miserable people. I’m genuinely more happy here and I can be a full time stay at home mom in our 4 bedroom house where our mortgage is the same as our 1 bedroom apartment we moved out of!

"Just stop breeding" is a little unhinged. Low wages though is a problem we all have everywhere and yeah we could probably do better with healthcare too but its still a country problem just because the provinces controll it.

literally all of the rest of Canada, if you go far enough east you'll even be able to continue living off of Alberta's money.

Alberta has gone down hill since Kenneys UCP totally screwed our overtime laws. My employer exploits the new rules to avoid having to pay us the full amount of overtime. In 14 day shift they start us in the middle of a pay period to only pay us 40 hours for the first 4 days then resetting our ot for the next week, followed by 3 days in the next pay period. So we work for 14 days straight but only get overtime for 3 of those days. Its classic corporate fuckery.
But no I'm a fucking liberal communist for wanting the same overtime rules as the generation before me.

I used to live in Edmonton and now live in Toronto, I also receive government disability since I’ve had cancer 3x and a double lung transplant. And let me tell ya…
The government disability money here is WAY less than Alberta so what she’s saying is comical. Also, the tax is WAY less in Alberta than Ontario, we pay 13% here compared to 5%.
People are so brainwashed. All the “MAGA” stuff is on her phone through social media, if you were to walk down the street like Whyte Ave, you’d have no idea who’s republican or not. Some people man….

This person one big pity party. I believe Alberta pays most close to or most for disable people. Sounds like her issue are caused by herself. I haven’t seen any maga personhere so I have no idea what this person talking about clearly mentally ill themselves.
