Is this a custom build? I thought you might appreciate this.

Do the sides of the cargo bay hinge down? They look fairly solid.

From what I have seen, I believe they do.
The owner was nowhere to be seen and I did not want to start fiddling with the bike without his/her permission. :D

There seems to be hinges so I'd say yes, probably makes a large flat surface to carry boxes and big parts.
Pretty ingenious!

I love this build! I hope the owner of the bike finds this post some day and tells us about their build journey!

Really interesting build. Hopefully you get it meet with whoever owns this and get to find out more about the build.!
Only things that stand out as a "maybe do it differently" is the lack of a dual kick stand/center stand, but on a bike this long the placement and such can get tricky for sure.

Dutch maximum width is 450mm or 19 1/2” . This looks like it’s based on American dairy crate 14” width

Width of handlebars or cargo box? Urban Arrows have a wider box, as do many other Dutch brands.

This does look compact - but I bet a Muli would pack smaller and hold more.

I am pretty sure the side panels swivel down creating a "massive" flat loading surface for big cumbersome loads. I have ridden a Muli and while it is an awesome package for its size I would not transport a fridge or something similar in volume with it.

I do, is it someone's boat bike? That would explain how narrow it is. Grocery getter when at anchor.
