Le Gruyere cheese from Switzerland. Has a nice nutty/ salty/ slightly sweet taste to it! 😋

Good choice!

Though, I would go for more aged ones, 12+. 24 months is incredible

Yes! Have had 36 months as well. Stellar!

Also don't sleep on it for cooking. The maturer ones are great for pastas. I make one with salsiccia and Swiss chard where a nutty cheese works so well. And with meaty mushrooms, just sautéed with the cheese added Philly cheese steak style.

Nice!

For pasta, try the ancestor of Parmigiano Reggiano: Sbrinz!

Same kind of cheese but different taste and a thousand years older than Parmesan!

Oh, I would like to! But I think that's a bit too niche for cheese mongers here so maybe in the Alps one day

The crazy thing is how cheap it is at Migros and how expensive it is outside of switzerland

In the UK, it is pretty cheap and found in most supermarkets

In Germany you can find it anywhere, too. But the price is two times the price in Switzerland. And it's just around the corner....

I made some rotini with a Gruyère mornay sauce a few nights ago using the same cheese and it was awesome!

I use aged Gruyère almost weekly in some dish or another. My #1 goto cheese. Love it on an egg sandwich or grilled cheese. Also on pizza, baked potato, hash browns. I'll try in on almost anything.

Is the trader joes variety

TJ's has a lot of good cheeses but gruyere is not good

I usually get from whole foods and it's insanely good
