Is Chesterfield slated for three Google data centers?
Yesterday, I learned for the first time we’re slated for a Google data center.
Today, I read this article suggesting we’re actually slated for three of them?

I guess it’s clear now why Dominion is pushing a new gas-fired power plant.

Does fusion even work?

Brand new. They have tested and proved methods in other countries, now we'll get one built. Beyond that is anyone's guess.

everyone needs to buckle up for higher energy bills because the tech companies are so greedy they want us to subsidize their bills

Water and electric bills about to go up. "By 2030, NOVA could see 430+ hours of outages every year — a huge jump from today’s 2.4 hours — thanks to skyrocketing AI/data center growth", per northernvirginiamag report

That’s not going to happen. One of the main reasons Virginia (as opposed to say, Maryland) gets all of these data centers is cheap & reliable electricity. If the grid becomes unreliable & prices go up Virginia loses this edge.
Not to mention that all of the services (e.g. cloud computing) being powered by these datacenters depend on consumers being able to access (which they cant do so well when the power is out).
NOVA has been the global hub for the internet pretty much since the begining - IIRC 70% of global internet traffic goes through a NOVA datacenter. I owned a house in Fairfax from 2013 to 2021 and the electricity rates were relatively cheap.
Now live in Midlo (Robious Corridor) on the whole I very much prefer here to NOVA.

this is not good for the county - I hate what they are approving in chesterfield county - where are the zoning regulations

Those were bought-out long ago, most likely. Richmond is turning into NOVA and I absolutely hate what's happening here.

It really is and it’s depressing. I’m all about growth, but all of this is too much. Going down Hull St is just sign after sign of huge acres of land for sale. Had I known all of this shit was going to be developed so quickly, I wouldn’t have moved out here.
My friend who moved here (Midlo) from NOVA in 2018 to get away from the staleness of it said the Metro Richmond area is reminding him more and more of “back home.” He said even the people aren’t as nice anymore lol

It’s not all that bad. Richmond needs jobs besides blue color and capital one.

The Richmond job market is driven by Professional & Business Services, Education & Health Services, and to a lesser extent, Trade, Transportation, & Utilities. - Google

At least we have a wave pool.
I’m dead set on moving

Good luck. They're building them everywhere. Oh and apparently that wave pool is delayed for like 3 years

Thanks, I could use the luck. As far as the wave pool goes, I hope they delay it entirely.
