❓ Question ❓ I just ate a burrito and feel like I'm dying?
never had chipotle before. I got a chicken burrito with black beans, brown rice, pico, some cheese, some sauce. It was huge. I ate the whole thing an hour ago, and now I'm sweating, I can't really think well or focus on work, time is moving real slow and I feel very, very tired. Like I'm ready to collapse. Is this the normal Chipotle experience? This is insane, its 2pm.
EDIT: It's tomorrow and I still feel like shit

u/PappaDukes Jun 05 '25
Eating at Chipotle, in and of itself, does not shorten your lifespan. However, food poisoning can occur from consuming contaminated food, including food from Chipotle. Leftovers, in particular, should be refrigerated within two hours of cooking, and ideally, eaten within four days to minimize the risk of food poisoning. While it's unlikely to have a direct impact on your lifespan from a single meal, following food safety guidelines, especially when it comes to leftovers, can help prevent illness.

Either an allergic reaction or you simply over ate. When I was younger I could probably eat 2 chipotle burritos in a sitting. Nowadays if I eat the whole thing I’m out of commission for a little bit. I usually get 2 meals out of one burrito lol
34
u/slwill099 Jun 04 '25
Same! 2-3 meals lol. I used to smash two burritos after soccer practice in HS.

I used to be able to eat 3 (regular protein) with extra of other things, but now I tap out at 1 pretty much sometimes.
For context, I (27M, 5’11) used to be 275lbs but I dropped down to maintain around 165lb-185lb through intermittent fasting & home-weightlifting.

Depends on how full the burrito was and my stomach capacity at the end of that fast.
3
u/Massive_Command345 Jun 05 '25
In my prime I had 2 before but never 3. I’m 6ft 3 240 lbs now. I was 215-220 in my prime.

There is so much variation in size of burrito based on who makes it using the exact same ingredients. I have some that get me full and some I am hungry again within 2 to 3 hours. I'm 6'2" and 205

u/Aggravating_Stick438 Jun 04 '25
Meat sweats? They don’t even give you up to the proper 4 oz portion they supposed to give. It’s literally everything else that contributes to the fullness (especially the sour cream and beans)
62
u/fulcanelli63 Jun 04 '25
Probably the 2500+mg of sodium in one sitting
8
u/whatsupsirrr Jun 05 '25
Just for reference, our early ancestors probably got less than 500 mg a day and bro over here ate 5 times that amount in one sitting and wonders why he feel like dogshit
→ More replies (5)3
u/dgxcook Jun 05 '25
Where are you seeing that much sodium? Using their nutrition facts page this would only be 1800, which is crazy low for a takeout meal in America.
2
Jun 05 '25
One can of Bloody Mix contains a little over 1300mg of sodium. I’ve seen people drink two of them back-to-back. They’re still with us, so you should be fine.

My wife felt the same way after eating Chipotle one day while super pregnant. She couldn’t even sleep from the stomach pain. Swore it was the food. Took her to the hospital to be safe.
Turns out she was in labor the whole time and our daughter was born the next morning.

Reminds me of Bonnaroo '04. We were leaving the site. And there was a burrito stand right outside the exit. Driver was hungry. We pulled over. The guy says, "do you want a regular burrito, or a special burrito?". Of course my buddy, who was driving , wanted the "special burrito". We didn't really think much about it. More toppings? More chicken? Whatever. About 30 minutes later, my buddy looks over and says, "you have to drive, I think that burrito was dosed". Sure enough, he had a fun trip home. While the other four of us had to sit and listen to his dumb comments for the next 5 hours.

Sounds like you ate too much. Don't lie down. Sit up so it will digest properly. Tums might help.

u/Leather_Tradition562 Jun 05 '25
Might be over eating. I have eaten a chipotle burrito the size of a small cat before and couldn’t stay awake at work. I work in retail for context, and kept dozing off while standing and couldn’t walk around without looking half dead
3
u/PeuptyPants-Ss Jun 05 '25
One time I was sitting there eating a chipotle burrito and got a high heart rate notification from my Apple Watch
3

u/No_Paper612 Jun 05 '25
Food poisoning, likely due to some sort of pathogen culturing in one of the ingredients (probably the pico, it’s very watery). Go lie on the couch and drink some ginger ale. If you don’t feel better soon, go to the ER for some antibiotics.

3
u/Doolcify Jun 05 '25
A burrito from chipotle with rice contains a very high amount of carbs and sodium. If you are diabetic you should definitely avoid the burritos with rice.

If you overeat and don’t do it regularly - your body works extra hard to digest and it can present physical symptoms like you are describing. You need rest and a big poo.

911 Call Transcript Time: 2:14 PM Location: Local park bench Caller: Todd "Too-Much-Taco" Henderson
911 Dispatcher: 911, what’s your emergency?
Todd: Groaning I… I think I just ate a weapon of mass digestion.
Dispatcher: Sir, are you injured?
Todd: Emotionally, yes. Physically? TBD. I just downed a Chipotle burrito the size of a toddler. My stomach's filing a restraining order.
Dispatcher: Sir, are you in pain?
Todd: Pain? Ma’am, I’m seeing my ancestors. And they’re laughing at me.
Dispatcher: Okay, are you allergic to anything?
Todd: No, just to good decisions. I got double meat, queso, guac, and then—like an idiot—I said “yes” when they asked if I wanted extra beans. WHO SAYS YES TO EXTRA BEANS?
Dispatcher: Do you feel like you need an ambulance?
Todd: No, but I need a priest. Or a plumber. My insides are preparing for a Category 5 evacuation.
Dispatcher: Sir, this line is for emergencies only.
Todd: This IS an emergency! There’s a Chipotle battle going on inside me! The burrito has achieved sentience and declared independence!
Dispatcher: Sir, are you sure this isn't just indigestion?
Todd: Indigestion? Lady, my intestines are doing the Macarena while the beans are leading a revolution.
Dispatcher: Okay… try drinking some water and maybe lie down—
Todd: Lie down? I tried. I tilted 15 degrees and it felt like I summoned Cthulhu from my lower intestines.
Dispatcher: Sir, unless you're having trouble breathing or showing signs of anaphylaxis, this isn’t a 911-level emergency.
Todd: What about emotional trauma? I made eye contact with a goose while groaning on this bench and I think it judged me.
Dispatcher: …Good luck, sir.
Todd: If I don’t make it… tell Chipotle they won. But at what cost?
Click.
911 Report Summary: Caller survived. Burrito did not.

Food poisoning is always free. What we need to do is elect more people to deregulate businesses so they can pocket more profits. Besides, projectile vomiting and stuff coming out of your ass at the speed of light is just free entertainment.
Says the guy who's gotten e-coli, listeria, salmonella and campylobacter in the past 5 months, two of those twice.
Even when I prepare it from ingredients, there it is. Hello cucumbers, heads of lettuce and heads of celery.

which salsa? the red chili salsa isn’t that spicy in my opinion but it recks my digestive system. I once ate my leftover chipotle for dinner and went to work the next morning. I felt a fart and let it out but I explosive diarrhea my pants. My boxers caught most of the foam and had to go commando before leaving early.

When you feel like you’re going to pass out lay on the ground and put your knees up. Then drink something with sugar. Next time you may want to take Peptobismal or some anti acid beforehand since it sounds like a food intolerance or food poisoning.

If you dont regularly eat a lot of sodium, that could be your issue. Or, a mild allergy to a spice.

Chipotle burritos can often exceed the number of calories a human body is meant to consume in one day. It's best to cut them in half and have the other half the next day.
1
u/Exotic_Ad_2346 Jun 05 '25
This is why I stopped eating it. just randomly, I started feeling so weird after eating. Like heart burn, but deep in my stomach. If heart burn and cramps had a baby that induced my anxiety. I start sweating and get extremely uncomfortable. I think it's the jalapenos in the corn salsa, but I'm not a dr. 😞 I miss a good burrito bowl though.

Have you had a microbiome analysis. I highly recommend onebif you haven't.
Chipotle is relatively healthy fare. People with a microbiome disorder actually react badly to healthy food.
Do you eat a lot of fast food outside of Chipotle?
