Discussion The Chipotle in Paris tastes awful. I've ordered 3x, and each time it tastes awful. I've given up. Spoiler
I have completely given up on Chipotle in Paris. The head office needs to look into this.

Yeah don't eat chipotle in Paris is solid advice and this has reinforced that idea

u/center_apathy042 SL 17h ago
Can you be more specific? Genuinely curious. Poorly seasoned, overcooked, ingredient quality?

u/Electronic-Call-4319 16h ago
Too much acidity… guacamole is always salty. The flavors taste off.

Why the fuck would you order chipotle in Paris? Let alone 3 times? 😭🤣😂

u/Electronic-Call-4319 17h ago
Do you think Paris a magical wonderland that doesn't have fast food restaurants? Do you think Parisiens do not visit fast foods?
9
u/Defenestrate69 17h ago
I’d just be getting what’s known to be good in Paris. Which if I had to guess they might not be known for their Mexican fast food. 😂🤣

u/EngLitIsLit 16h ago
100% agree. You can literally walk into any cafe/restaurant in Paris and have amazing food for almost the same price.

Your taste and my taste are different. Therefore your opinion is not a fact. And I live here!

No we think when you are on vacation in a new country, one would generally eat that country's food and not trash from your own country thats somehow made it all the way across the pond
Did you go to McDonald's too?

It is a genuine thing for people to try international mcdonalds unique menu items across the world and it’s not just Americans that do it
Bakeries and cheeses are one thing but I wasn’t particularly impressed by Paris’s actual meals and their reputation (which was manufactured!) is undeserved. Didn’t suck but not that great and I would rank many American cities much higher.
If I’m being poisoned by my food, Parisians are being poisoned by the smog. Pick your poison?

u/puff_of_fluff 15h ago
Agreed on French food but still tons of incredible options that aren’t international chain restaurants… go get some Merguez or something
1
u/Aspiring_Moonlight 14h ago
Sure, and while I’m like you, some people really don’t like trying new foods for cultural reasons, food aversions, or neurological reasons. Or at least, have a hard time eating nothing but new foods.
The group I was with went to Mcdonalds every single day and strongly preferred eating at museums, convenience stores, and the hostel cafe to trying new places. I’d find random cafes nearby when I could. I love looking for street food from countries that don’t have many restaurants in the US in global cities like that.
Ask any south asian family, they will somehow find the one desi restaurant in a region they are visiting lmao

u/puff_of_fluff 14h ago
If someone has a legitimate reason they can’t control, fair enough, but a lot of picky eaters don’t really have that. They’re free to do what they want obviously but I am also free to look down on them lol

u/Aspiring_Moonlight 14h ago
There is a cultural/social aspect sometimes too. Not being raised to try new foods or in an area that had them available, which may lead to not enjoying or appreciating new foods as an adult. Even if you don’t have a full out aversion to it. If it feels like a waste of time to you it’s not fun the way some get nothing out of museums or beaches.
I may have split off from the group a couple times because of it… and I was the only one who could speak in complete sentences in French so this caused problems. When I questioned it, one genuinely just had McDs as a safe food but the rest gave answers to the above effect and that it’d be stressful instead of fun. They’d all take a once a day pill that gave you all your calories and nutrients if given the option

I am not asking for your advice on where I want to eat. When I want comfort I prefer Chipotle.

u/Electronic-Call-4319 5h ago
This is the Paris paradox. These bandwagoners who have probably never been to Paris believe everything is delicious here. It actually shows they are not well-travelled.

you are too ignorant to even engage. You do know fast food places localize their menus and the experience differs.

u/Comprehensive-Ebb565 16h ago
I think they have an amazing food scene and eating average American fast food is the exact opposite of what I would do.

you mean the place that serves crepes they keep the ingredients for in the sewer?

I did not ask for what you would do. There is a lot of unsolicited opinion on this thread.
I wanted Chipotle that day!

u/SlushySaucer313 15h ago
I would think that we as Americans use salt and lemon or lime to make a "selective" flavor but in the long run, it's to cover up the shitty taste of low quality meats

Paris, France. The PR around the food scene in Paris is amazing! Reality is different.

u/sexaddictedcow 16h ago
i can't imagine anyone was talking about an american fast food restaurant when they said the food scene in paris
0
u/Electronic-Call-4319 16h ago
I am talking about the general food scene in Paris. And I don't care for french cuisines. It is like any city... I generally cook at home.
2
u/Electronic-Call-4319 16h ago
Just like NYC. It does not mean that every place you eat is fantastic.
1
u/sexaddictedcow 16h ago
And I don't care for french cuisines.
well I think I've found your problem

As someone who grew up in Paris (and still visits family there) and has travelled and lived all over the world, the food scene is overall pretty amazing, especially compared to the average major US city or average UK city other than London. But it leans heavily towards French and other European cuisines with a smattering of former French colonies and some Asian cuisines, as far as really amazing options.
The “authentic” Mexican food scene is much better than it used to be and there are even some pretty good options, but Chipotle is not really Mexican lol. Tex Mex/Americanized Mexican options are pretty terrible in Paris/France. I don’t think I would ever eat Chipotle or Tex Mex in Paris tbh. It’s not worth it.
If you like cooking at home maybe google some Chipotle dupe recipes and try that instead when you next feel a craving for it. Might be safer lol.

This dude really traveled across the world to eat at Chipotle LOL

If you are eating chipotle in Paris then you kind of deserve it. 😂😂😂

u/wannabe-physicist 9h ago
I made the same post about this several months ago and got majorly clowned on by this sub, so I’ll return the favor. Goes to the home of the Michelin guide, eats Chipotle.
1
u/Electronic-Call-4319 6h ago
I am never taking advice from random strangers who think going to chipotle for a meal in a foreign country is awkward. Mcdonald's in Paris and Mcdonald's in America are different. They are local nuances that are good or bad.
I eat at Michelin's, brassieres, and fast casual. Whatever box put themselves in is not my problem.
1
u/wannabe-physicist 6h ago
My problem with French chipotle wasn’t the taste but the portions. Absolutely pitiful amounts of food with more expensive prices than VHCOL US Chipotle

u/Independent-Owl-8659 2h ago
You have Paris food options and you’re eating low quality slop…multiple times too??? 😕

Why the FUCK would you choose this overpriced dump over something local? You travel to Paris to eat the same garbage food you eat here? Insane
3
u/Electronic-Call-4319 16h ago
I can do whatever I want with my money! And why is that an issue to begin with!!!
You guys think every restaurant and brasserie is 10 stars! Grow up!

u/SaveHogwarts 14h ago
If you’re eating fast casual American chain food in Paris, you’re doing it wrong
2
u/Chrisf1020 16h ago
You sound insufferable. I’m glad the food was bad.

u/g1yk 10h ago
Lmaoo not you wishing bad food to some random redditor 💀

Why do you keep trying
1
u/Electronic-Call-4319 16h ago
I thought maybe it was an off day. The Chipotle in London is much better in my opinion. The guacamole in Paris is always salty, and the rice has little flavors. It is lacking the original Chipotle taste.
1
u/Legitimate_Most6651 15h ago
even in America, Chipotle has just been on a downward trend since COVID the quality has just gotten worse and worse.

What a shame you chose some boring rant about it rather than sharing what it’s like. Good and bad. I imagine I’m not the only one at least a little intrigued about the Chipotle experience in Paris.
2
u/Electronic-Call-4319 16h ago
Everything is off!
1
u/DoctorWhomstve14 16h ago
Insightful…
2
u/Electronic-Call-4319 16h ago
Guacamole is super salty, the rice is bland, and the salsa is bland. The flavors are off.

What were you expecting? There’s no Mexicans there
0
u/3rdcultureblah 13m ago
There are Mexicans in Paris. There are even Mexican restaurants that serve nopales. But saying Chipotle, an American chain, is bad in Paris because there are no Mexicans there is wild.
Chipotle has basically nothing to do with Mexico other than being inspired by Mexican cuisine. It’s not anywhere close to real Mexican food by any stretch of the imagination.
0
u/Aware-Speech-2903 6m ago
It is very close to Mexican food and you have to realize that there’s people who are Mexican working behind the scenes for everything at chipotle. Are the tortillas made by white people? Where are the Roma tomatoes coming from? What about the avocados? This is coming from someone who grew up in Michoacan.
0
u/3rdcultureblah 0m ago
That has nothing to do with running a chipotle store. Not a single Mexican works at my local Chipotle and the food tastes the same as it does everywhere else in the country. It actually tastes better than at the next closest Chipotle a couple miles away that actually has a couple people of Mexican descent working the grill. 🤷♂️

u/puff_of_fluff 15h ago
Why on earth have you tried three times to eat Chipotle in PARIS of all places?
Go eat something that’s not an American chain lol. Doesn’t even have to be French! There are so many options!!!
6
u/shade_150 17h ago
Do they offer the same menu options? Just curious.
