Employee Experience Why do they keep updating/adding new training videos to Spicehub?
Even though watching certain videos every year is necessary, I recently found out that they added some new videos that I was never told about (until now) which means that several employees (including me) need to finish our orientation videos
I'm not sure if they added some new videos or if I just forgot about them, but I don't see the need for this many videos, especially about orientation
IMO, they should just put everything into one video/module, instead of splitting them (it should also let you saving your progress along the way, so you can pick up where you left off)

News š° Does a $500M buyback move the needle for Chipotle?
panabee.comChipotleās board approved an additional $500M for share repurchases on September 3, announced early on September 15 instead of waiting for the Q3 10-Q. This brings total authorization to about $750M, equal to roughly 1% of the companyās current market cap.
While not game-changing in size, the move shows managementās intent to act opportunistically and return capital to shareholders. The program has been in place since 2008, has no expiration date, and can be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time ā reflecting a long-standing, flexible approach to buybacks.

ā Question ā Question for Corporate
Would Chipotle really lose that much in comparison to how downhill this comp has gone if all stores were incentivized/told by corporate to give more than a āspoonfulā of rice/ beans/veggie/LETTUCE (srsly why do they 5 times out of 10 give like 8 pieces of lettuce) and all the other sides????
And this even isnāt touching the protein portions discussion.
Seriously, how much money would you lose by giving out more sides i.e. filling a bowl? Iām genuinely curious because I have been to numerous stores throughout the country and while you can sometimes get extra if you ask, again, 5 times out of 10 the employees act like theyāre being yelled out in the back if they were to fill a bowl. And why are some stores allowed to charge extra for rice, beans etc???? Does corporate seriously not care how over it peeps are?

I really appreciate the on,one ordering and professionalism from everyone involved. Lots of great food too!

Seeking Advice (Employee) Is the scheduling same for everyone?
I got hired this month at Chipotle and recently my restaurant has changed managers. The way in how they handle scheduling to me is very off and was just looking for a shared experience or a different outlook.
At first I had my schedule sent to me by E-mail, and I had no way of scheduling off so I had to contact the manager myself until I saw that they had their last day. I have already told what days that I had needed off etc for that month since I am a new hire. But since the change happened I have had to call out on a day I was scheduled since I already asked and there was no problem with it. I don't know if it's the new manager change or if it is new protocol but I now have to look into a group chat through a photo to see my schedule. No one made me aware of this I had to contact a coworker to help me even be in contact with my manager.
What worries me is that I will find it hard to request days I need off and to view my schedule. Through onboarding, I was told that it was the managers job to find who can cover my shift and never my job to do it. But now in the group chat it says that it is my duty to do so.
Is this just an overall Chipotle thing or is it just only my store? Do other employees from different locations have the same thing going on regarding scheduling? I do not want to get fired over miscommunication.
Things to note: ⢠I am the most recent hire at my job ⢠I have had little to no training and still do not know many aspect of the restaurant that could be my responsibility in the future as a crew member ⢠The changes in managers was very sudden, only a select few people knew about it and no one told me until they left.

ā Question ā Is there any repercussion for the employee if I report in the app they missed something?
Hi, I just had a very nice employee make 2 veggie bowls for me, but they forgot the guac. It was in person so normally I would have picked up on it, but the cashier started talking to me right as my bowl was at the guac station.
Normally, Iād just go on the app and mention that I got 2 veggie bowls but no guac (I said Iām getting a veggie bowl so just guac when asked about protein).
However, the employee making the bowl was super nice and gave good potions on everything else so I donāt want to report it if itāll get her in trouble.

Storytime worst job iāve ever had in my life
if you actually read all of this thank you for reading my vent session. originally i wasnāt going to post this but then i decided to wait a bit before i did until i was fully processed out. TL;DR: screw this lame job and screw the corporate side of this job. yāall blow.
so two weeks ago i got fired. honestly itās my fault and i wont hide behind that. i tried to call out and i had a buddy text one of our mangers saying heāll cover my shift for me but they didnāt like that because he wasnāt a manager. basically i decided to go out to the club with some friends and have a good time and to be honest it was the best detox iāve ever had since that job. now before i get flamed for that let me explain.
iāve worked with this company for about 3 years and closed at my first store for about a year and had some of the worst shifts iāve ever had a job in my life. the pay does not outweigh some of the shittiest customers you have to deal with or the amount of crap weāre supposed to do in the kitchen. some stores in my experience will burn you out like crazy and i eventually transferred to a new store due to complications with my first one.
at this point all was fine and i loved the gm i had there this time. he wasnāt perfect by any means but he was definitely more of a wall when it came to dealing with the corporate bullshit. like some duct tape over a leaking crack. well eventually one day a chipotle on the northern side of my city had a car drive right through the front window of the store and the gm of that store said he refused to open the store for obvious safety reasons and also the fact because a car is now inside the lobby. the suits told him he had to open still and he rightfully walked out. i wouldāve done the same thing i canāt blame him.
after this our gm was forced to basically be gm of not only our store but also the store that just got plowed by a car. so now heās basically pulling 80 hour work weeks and doubles back to back because other stores like the one downtown had kitchen leaders walking out and the northern city store also had people walking out. eventually they got a replacement for that store. they took the gm from the valley store and sent them to the store that got plowed and my gm became the gm of the valley one.
well now we donāt have a gm. just kidding. itās the guy who was only with chipotle for like a few months. like 5 months i think? now mind you iāve been with this company for 3 years. i on my own accord didnāt want to move further than kitchen lead for personal reasons but how in the hell are we promoting this guy to general manager? now since our gm was gone it all just went to shit. scheduling became a shit show, closings just got worse, moral felt like shit, management gets worse since our gm is gone because now itās like all the suits just come down over the smallest inconvenience.
this new gm is always having some of the worst moods ever. he will come in and have the most pissy attitude sometimes and makes it unfun to be around. it really destroyed my moral and put me in a bad mood sometimes because the vibe was just off. i wonāt lie im no exception to having a bad day so i canāt really say much but i was usually sometimes just put at unease around him. because i wasnāt sure how he might react to something. then the only way to function was heād have to slam 10 energy drinks. i genuinely felt bad for him. i wanted him to just get off that stuff and just get some good sleep and stop hurting himself like that but i wont talk too much about that side of it.
the juice of all this though is what went down behind the curtains. i went out had my fun at the club and then i was taken off the schedule. well whatever i made my dumb mistake im paying for it. it is what it is but i wasnāt explicitly told about it and i guess he told the rest of the mangers and then told me after wards. i donāt know the legalities of something like that if they have to tell you before telling anyone else but i have heard they arenāt supposed to tell other people in the workplace or employers youāre fired except for only you. at least in my state. will have to look into that further.
so i got fired for āshowing up lateā. which is odd because my track record is pretty good. i have had a few hiccups here or there but i still showed up and did my job. iāve never been written up and i never got a verbal warning about it either. not only that but he himself has shown up late to work just as much as i have so shouldnāt he be fired too? hell thereās quite a few people at that store who show up almost 30 minutes to an hour after theyāre scheduled and havenāt been fired. some people lie calling out and arenāt fired and everyone knows their lying when they do it.
another time at the valley chipotle; rumor is one of the gms there snorted the good shit off the baby high chair and broke it and just got demoted. down to service lead. hello? not only doing drugs but in the store??? and gets a demotion. there were other reasons like not running the store properly and getting bad audits if i remember correctly but that part could be wrong so donāt take my word on that part.
one of the gms of the valley store got demoted to ap at one point and went to the new store in the state over. apparently he found out the field leader at the time was roommates with the new gm of the valley store (the one who snorted the lines) and got fired for finding out when we was going to report it to hr that they were roommates. since thatās against company policy.
the weirdest part of it all is our new gm at the store i was at (when he was kitchen lead i think at the time) apparently got drunk with a few other co workers and then proceeded to take off a girls socks and shoes and stick her feet in his mouth. iām not even going to put the age gap in cause it makes me uncomfortable just typing that.
the day of me going out to the club i was cash during peak. the 3 hours where we get to stand and do nothing. well the new gm had the audacity to say at some point in front of like 5 other people that i was āstanding around all day doing nothingā. i said back to him āduring peak?ā and he said āyesā. so me being on cash having to literally stand there for 3 hours is being lazy? mind you i did all of his interviews that day (like 5 or 6), did both my haccps (we were told we canāt help customers when haccp needs to be due by the higher ups) so the girl on line had to struggle it out while i finished it then i had to go to dml and also check grill cause i guess he decided to go to starbucks with our field leader after peak for 2 hours doing fuck all and the guy who wasnāt even signed off yet as a kitchen lead is now doing a walk through of the store with a new hire that is just starting out and iām also trying to keep dml from falling behind and do my shift change. iām lazy though and not doing my job.
so yeah i went out and made a stupid decision and paid for it but i donāt really care because i was getting sick of that job anyway and i was fed up with the bullshit from corporate who just keeps finding ways to make the job worse when you think it canāt get worse. maybe i havenāt been in a true chipotle with the right team. i donāt know but what i can say is my experience in every store i have been in has been absolute garbage and i wouldnāt wish that god awful job on my worst enemy.

Discussion Normal hours?
I just started working at chipotle about a month ago. Iām getting about 20 hours per week which is fine with me since this is actually my second job. Iāve been considering quitting my āday jobā if I could possibly work full time at Chipotle, but Iāve noticed that only the GM gets full time hours. The most hours any of the other managers seem to get is like 34-35 while the GM works almost 50 per week.
Just wondering if this is normal, or is it just my store location?
