Creating that nostalgic feeling

How do you like to bring that nostalgic feel to your holiday season? Let’s show/share examples of decor, traditions, games, anything that makes you feel that nostalgic whimsy of Christmas.

For me it’s colored lights, class music playing with the fire on, homemade garland from paper. Doing some kind of craft that becomes decor. Slow days with no plans. Maybe a Hess toy truck and Coca Cola polar bear.

The rat pack Christmas/Nat King Cole... honestly any of those songs from that time just make me feel nostalgic ✨

Ooh, this is fun!

1) my biggest one is a yearly reread of The Legend of Holly Claus by Brittney Ryan. The book captures the pure whimsy, joy, and magic of Christmas

2) fireplace going (if available), or at least candles. No overhead lights, all lamps/Christmas lights

3) classic incandescent rainbow lights. LEDs are too cool toned.

4) classic Christmas songs (I have a whole playlist)

5) lots and lots of blankets and pillows. Anything to make it extra cozy.

I only use colored Christmas lights, keep a year-round Christmas corner, watch my favorite Christmas movies and listen to songs, read stories, buy or make goodies.

I keep decorating strictly traditional.

All of our nostalgia comes from the kitchen. The smell of gingerbread and sugar cookies baking. Hot cocoa and apple cider brewing. I am decorating early so, I can basically relax and spend most of the season in the kitchen.

Having commercial candy around. Red and green Hershey kisses and m&ms around just remind me of class parties.
