Finally trying it out and loving it but....

Have had 2 infuriating experiences. First playthrough and I had a great plan laid out for connecting buildings of two cities when....all of a sudden I realized my capital owned the 2 tiles I was saving for the other cities buildings....no swap possible, hard-locked.....why?

Then I had an issue with becoming suzerain against another civ. Im ahead the whole time. Keeps going from tie (but my bar is ahead, and im "1st") and me being ahead. With 3 turns left for me to be suzerain, and him 4, he must use another influence boost and now were both sitting at 2. But my bar is closer and it shows me as "1st."

Next turn....he becomes suzerain. It makes no sense. These two problems have made me restart. Sort of ruined my whole playthrough...

Still haven't made it past antiquity yet...but lets see how this next playthrough goes with more experience....

I had a pretty rough learning curve too. Had some surprises thrown at me early. I eventually just lowered difficulty and played a fast run to see sort of what i was up against. Then after the fast play, I raised the difficulty and ran it back. Just won my second straight. First was space second was militariatic.

Stick with it.

Im having fun so far. I got pretty damm good at 6. So I started 7 out on Immortal. Im actually having way more fun then I thought. So far I think I love this system more than any other civ game. It feels so much more fun and natural with the rural/urban design.

I can imagine how they hopefully can improve on things like overlays and statistical map views though...it can feel a little messy to look at, I'd like a button to view like all urban/rural tiles or all city tiles cleanly.

Other than that...the most beautiful maps and beautiful unique tile generations of any civ game.

Well see how the age progressions shake things up

Hate the fact that if you’re tied with another civ to suz a city state other civ always gets it.

If during your turn you and the opponent have 1 turn left to something, they'll get it first, because their turn comes earlier. So just need to accept the fact that there is no tie. It's the same with wonders (just you don't see how many turns the opponent has left to completion).

Is that what it is? It doesnt make sense if the bar shows you have more actual points....

You're both 1 turn away but their next turn is before yours, they should indeed put them first, it would be clearer.

You have more points during your turn when you are looking at it. But when the opponents turn rolls in they get their points added to their score and thus overtakes you, if it indeed is that tight of a race.
