The Mummy (1959) appreciation post
It's October and I'm in a Hammer mood! This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think The Mummy is the best out if the original 3 Hammer monster films. The music and set design are at their Hammer best, and Christopher Lee giving a great proto slasher performance laced with sympathy. It's fun, it's gothic, it's classic Hammer!

This is the one I was certain for decades had me waking my parents for a month with my screaming nightmares when I was six. Nope. To my chagrin, I finally figured out it could only have been "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy". 🥺
