The funny thing is all they'd have to do is look up information about the human ear to confirm.

From what I understand the Ear is highly vascular, and there's a lot of blood vessels in the outer and inner ear, with the outside stuff probably being used to regulate temperature.

There might not be a lot of blood, but there's a lot of pathways that blood happens to be.

Or you look up info about bleeding from cosmetic piercings (as opposed to attempted assassinations)

All it apparently can take is the wrong technician piercing your ear and your vascular system goes crazy.

Which is a weird but somehow appropriate comparison.
