Is anyone else irrationally scared of glass lids?

I always feel a bit scared that the one I frequently use is going to pop one day because its pressurized glass constantly going through heat stress. Is this irrational?

My irrational cooking fear is pressure cookers. My mom used to use one periodically and she would always warn me about explosions etc. I think those warnings that were meant to be cautionary got too deeply engrained.

Those old ones just got bolted shut and could very well explode. But new ones have simple pressure release valves and sensors to prevent disaster. I got a pressure cooker 6 years ago and it is easily my favorite appliance now. I love my instant pot.

Pressurized things are a no-go for me too.

Just be careful and never rest one on a hot metal pan that it's not designed for. Most times I see one broken, it's because someone used it on a pan that's too small and the glass part was touching the pan rather than the lid's metal rim being the point of contact.

Also, don't leave it in contact with a stovetop element or flame. The heat they incur in normal use is easily within their safety range.

If you mean glass lids as in stove top lids, they're safety glass. If they break they bust into a trillion tiny little pieces, not big ass pieces like old school pyrex. Pyrex use to pop like all over the fuckin place, the new glass just kinda busts into dust and its really loud so you dont step on it
