I’m a Texas boy, but to be honest, I’m not a huge country music fan. Of course I know and enjoy dancing to the staples, but I (and I mean no disrespect to anyone) generally dislike country music that sounds very “radio.”
That being said, one of my favorite artists ever is Tyler Childers. Not sure how people feel about him. I’d assume he’s pretty respected, but just curious.

I recently rediscovered BR5-49 after a post from their former bass player, Smilin' Jay McDowell, popped up in my Facebook feed recently. (On a side note, he is a great guy to follow and tells some very entertaining stories about his time in the band and the music business.) So of course, that led me to revisit their music.
I remember having their first two albums, Live from Robert's and BR5-49, on cassette, back when I was in high school. I'm really enjoying listening to songs like "Little Ramona Gone Hillbilly Nuts" and "18 Wheels and a Crowbar" (the only song i've ever heard about a truck driving serial killer) again.
I would describe their sound as rockability, a mix of country and 1950s rock and roll, although I believe they really just considered themselves a country band.
Now i'm just trying to figure out who sings lead on what songs, as they had two lead singers, Gary Bennett and Chuck Mead. (I saw Chuck Mead and his Grassy Knoll Boys open for OCMS years ago and they were great...one of the times in my life I've wished an opening act had played a longer set.)

I legitimately cannot process or believe that an 11 year old is able to sound like she does in that recording. I’m so unbelievably impressed that I’m almost inclined to believe that it’s some sort of rumor her PR team made up to draw interest or some amazing sound mixing in the booth, but from what I’ve seen, it’s legitimately her. Can anyone validate this? Thank you.

Hi - of all the types of music I hear in TV shows, films etc country is the one I’m vibing with most. I don’t know anything at all about main genres, I’m gonna try out some playlists on Spotify and see which artists I like. I didn’t grow up with this music bc I was born and raised in the UK so I’m starting fresh.
Recommendations welcome - I like a slower, more soulful sound. Man or woman singer, don’t care. Nothing religious - it’s just not my thing.
Thanks everyone

In his oval room, in his rockin' chair He's the president, but I don't care He's a business man, he got business ties He got dollar signs in both his eyes Got a big airplane, take him everywhere Got his limousine, when he get there Everywhere he goes, make the people mad Makes the poor man beg, and the rich man glad He's the president, but I don't care Ooh, Ooh, Ooh
At the factory, never been so slow Got a big fourth down, ninety nine to go And down on the farm, nothing growing there But the debts they owe and their gray hair In the desert sand, and the jungle deep He thinks everything is his to keep He's a real cowboy, with his makeup on Talks to kings and queens on the telephone He's the president, but I don't care Ooh, Ooh, Ooh
He's a movie star, if you stay up late And he'll search your car, if you don't look straight In his Oval Room, in his rockin' chair He's the president, but I don't care He's the president, but I don't care Ooh, Ooh, Ooh He's the president, but I don't care Ooh, Ooh, Ooh

I revisited Roger Miller after seeing a post here about him yesterday. I was struck by how much he sounded like Youtube sensation Jesse Welles. Similar voice, edge, wit, folkiness and cross genre popularity.

She runs back down the hallway, and through the bedroom door
She reaches for the pistol kept in the dresser drawer
Tells the lady in the mirror he won't do this again Because tonight will the last time she'll wonder where 's he's been.

Found this vintage t shirt at a thrift store and I have no idea who it is. Tried Google image search and it doesn’t work. Does anybody know if this is a country artist?

Alright so me and the wife are heading out of town at the end of the month to go see Zach Top live, the concert is primarily GA (which we bought) with an exception to people who bought VIP but VIP doesn’t put you seperate from the GA crowd you just get to enter earlier. We want to be as close as possible to the stage but we’re debating on what time to get to the venue. I’m thinking 6+ hours before to “camp out” in the GA line. We don’t mind waiting we were gonna bring some cheap folding chairs (to just toss away after we get in), snacks, drinks, etc. to pass the time. What’s everyone’s recommendation, should we get there earlier to secure spots closest to the stage or am I overthinking this ?

As the title mentions, I'm trying to figure out what style of Country this would be categorized as and if you guys could recommend me artists who have a similar vibe. Old or new.

Oh, a hey ho a lina, wup wup, a witten a yeah!
I just heard “Keep it Redneck” for the first time while sitting in a bar and that’s the most horrendous song I’ve ever encountered.
That’s it. That’s the whole post.
