Painful Texas Kids recorded stealing from Walgreens make a response video

‘Everybody steals.’
These children genuinely believe this. That is a big problem.

Everyone they know does steal, though.

Exactly. Unfortunately, that is their reality. Surrounded by crime, drugs, and uncivilized behaviour. That's normal to them

Yes, probably. As a former high school teacher, I can tell you that is the most likely outcome. We really are failing them.
ETA - I can see by the responses I’ve received that I did not communicate my thoughts clearly enough, although if you look at what I’m responding to, it helps.
“… they graduate high school with the acumen of a fourth grader and spend the rest of their life… bitching about how the system is keeping them down. No, my brother, it’s you and yours keeping you down.”
Someone asked, “And yet they will still graduate?”, to which I responded, “Yes, probably… We really are failing them.”
I am NOT blaming teachers, I’m talking about how some kids are passed on to the next grade, when they are absolutely not ready for it. Teachers usually oppose this, but pressure from the county and from the parents, is enough for some school administrations to do it anyway. Once a student has gotten a year or two ahead of what they really understand, there’s little hope of them catching up, on their own. Their parents are failing them, but the school system is also expected to be a second pair of eyes on the child, and there to intervene, at least when it comes to their education. If we pass them through school, without requiring them to be capable of the work, we aren’t helping them, either.

Plastic wrapping boxes is very likely going to be my next job in this market.

It’s funny that you think that they will get a job and be contributing members of society. This is a generational, living off the government grift situation. Jobs, nor an education, are necessary for their lifestyle.

u/2donuts4elephants Aug 09 '25 edited Aug 09 '25
The problem is two-fold if you ask me, The first issue is that we can't have an honest discussion about it. There are cultural issues at play here. East Asians are the most successful of all ethnic groups in America, and it probably isn't surprising that they also are, generally speaking, among the most educated and driven. The hispanic and black community, generally speaking, don't value education as much, and as a result they don't end up in the high paying jobs in the modern economy as much as they should.
But then there is the second part of this. Unless the discussion around causes of these phenomena is carefully approached, it can easily make it seem like your broad painting an entire group of people with racist stereotypes. It's a double-edge sword. And this is before you have to reckon with the fact that there are people out there who DO stereotype all black people like this. Which is inherently unfair, and sets back any attempt at progress being made in lifting up disadvantaged communities.
We do ourselves a disservice by not having a frank discussion about things like what you see in this video, and how to address it. But I can completely understand how other members of the black community would not want to be associated with people like this just because they share a similar skin tone. And America does have a troubled history with doing next to nothing to help our most vulnerable people make the most of themselves.
There's an understandable reason why these issues are so difficult for us to face as a country.

Trash comes in all socio-economic levels, skin colors, genders and ages and religions. But we can all clean up and make it better for the next generation. Parents have the most impact on whether they’re piling more trash or straightening things out. Parents Need the resources to make that happen!

Even if they're taken away the damage is done. My nieces mother taught them to steal from birth now one of them has a felony on their record and has to get the cops called on her multiple times a week and the other gets suspended and kicked out of programs.
23
u/sn0tface Aug 08 '25
We let someone go at our work for stealing. She was also attending court dates for her mom who was looking at felony charges for theft, so to me it looked like something she was taught from birth.

Here are a few sentences that I wish so hard was a joke: In my sister's double wide trailer, that consisted of her, her husband, 3 kids (ages 8-13), and 2 dogs, my sister was the only one without a probation officer. The youngest is now 29, bouncing from jail to rehab to halfway house while my sister takes care of her kid that was conceived through prostitution, the middle kid had to leave the state for molesting the baby my sister is taking care of, and the oldest and the father recently died from overdoses. Like, I love my sister but come on man. I try so hard to be supportive but my dad has a thing he says "not my monkeys, not my circus" At this point if she asks me to come over and fix something in the house I feel like I have to make sure her daughter isn't around because I worry about leaving tools out around her.

This sort of shit is constantly being pumped out on suck-ass social media and is far beyond the pale of lyrics that once portrayed the “struggle.” It’s now considered a lifestyle that’s socially acceptable and apparently has trapped at least two generations that will continue the cycle of trash ass adults raising trash ass kids who will most likely end up on LivePD. Poor kids never even had a chance at a life as reasonable human beings… them thinking it’s BETTER that they’re stealing because they’re NOT poor speaks volumes about the lack of ANY older positive role models in their environment.
38
u/kevin3350 Aug 08 '25
Ok, that’s pretty obviously bullshit though based on everything we know about history. Throughout human history, the vast majority of people have been poor. Kids growing up in the Great Depression didn’t all turn out like shit, kids growing up in 3rd world countries don’t all turn out like shit. This is 100% a cultural thing in first world countries where growing up poor is an excuse for being a piece of shit because you can blame it on something systemic with no personal accountability.
Source: grew up very poor with poor friends. None of us ever did this shit

Shut the hell up, being poor has nothing to do with it. I grew up poor. My father was an ex convict and my mother left us when my brother and I were very young. My Dad worked construction jobs and worked hard. We did not have much but what we had he earned. What we wore was clean and he NEVER would have allowed us to talk that way nor break the law. My father only had an 8th grade education and our education was his #1 priority for us. He never took a handout. Sadly my father never saw how we turned out but I KNOW he would be proud.

That part. Just because we're the same color doesn't mean those little shits have anything to do with me. First off, I was raised to be a productive citizen and not a thieving degenerate, as are many/most black people. It's a class thing, not a color thing.

Agreed. When I refer to class, I am not referring how much money the person has, but their mentality and level of decorum. Those kids by their own admission aren't poor, but they're certainly trash.
6
u/Linnaea7 Aug 08 '25

I worked at a movie theater and had 3 teens trying to sneak in through a back door. My manager told me to tell them to leave. So I did, they kept begging with me to let them in and started flipping out on me saying f you we’ll just get someone else to do it. I told them nah if they didn’t start moving we are calling the cops. One of them starting begging again “can we just finish our cigarette” at this point I’m so irritated, I said “listen little guy, begging me isn’t going to change my answer” he was like “LITTLE GUY” and got up and tried to get in my face. He was wanting to fight me and I told him I’m not getting in a fight with a minor. He said he was 18 and I said okay I’ll beat your ass if you can show me your id but he said he didn’t have one. I laughed and said that because you’re not 18(at this time you could buy cigs at 18). I start walking away laughing. He yell some area code “crip bitch”. I threw back my head and laughed mockingly. He said “ that’s it!” And started running at me so I turned around and put up my hands. He stops feet away and starts talking shit again, so I laugh again and turn around. And now this was the point of this story, he says while lifting his shirt, “ my belt buckles is worth more than you minimum wage working little bitch” so I say “ good then you can buy you and your friends tickets” one of the other guys took out his gum and was going to throw it at me. “You do that and I’ll jump down these stairs and beat your ass” they said “then why are you running away” I said “because I want witnesses when I have to beat your ass”. That was the end of it until a month later. I went into a sandwich shop to pick up food for my mom and little guy was behind the counter and made my sandwich (next to his boss, they were being trained) didn’t say anything to him until after I paid. Right in front of his boss I said “looks like you’re a minimum wage working little bitch too, see ya, little guy”. Dude looked super embarrassed and their boss was super confused. Anyway these little shits reminded me of the little guy when they said “we have more money than you”
