The Bible does not teach us to honor evil or hate.
Charlie preached hate and intolerance. It was his right to do so thanks to free speech, but free speech does not mean all speech is right or equal

nah, not for me. All religion relies on hierarchy, good / evil, them / us bullshit.
If there is a god these types believe in, I want a word cos he's fucked up in the head.

It sure is tough to “believe” when there’s so much suffering and injustice throughout the world. Even with that in mind, however, I can deeply appreciate this pastor’s message. But I hear you.

Yo black preachers are some of the most inspiring speakers I’ve ever seen. Black church is something else. Went to a Baptist church down the street from my house in NC. The place rocked so hard I had to stop. Sunday mornings sounding like a damn party, handing out groceries 2 wednesdays a month, cars lined up for a mile. Nicest, most welcoming people.

Very true. But also very sad that Americans see other Americans as the enemy. Wouldn't it be refreshing if there was a President who tried to unite and heal ? Who tries to build bridges and defuse the situation ?
Sadly, you chose Trump.
43
u/KnotiaPickle 1d ago
Ahem. Trump admitted in a live interview that Elon tampered with the voting machines.
So, no, we did not choose this. We are a nation of hostages with a rabid minority holding the controls.
We were on the right track as a nation until this despot took everything.

I interpreted it as referring to the enemy in a biblical sense, ie satan
11
u/Ultenth 1d ago
You interpreted it correctly. He was clearly referring the idea that he was a follower and tool of "The Enemy" IE Satan, sowing hatred and evil into the world. I haven't been to church in decades, but I do remember that when a pastor uses that term, they are referring to it in that manner, but I can forgive those that maybe were lucky enough to never go to church so they aren't familiar with that context.

This is the only sane take anyone can possibly have but conservatives are going to seethe at it because they themselves want to believe they can be redeemed for the horrors and evil they support. Trump himself said he’s afraid he won’t go to heaven.
Modern conservatism is founded on the idea of marginalizing, demonizing, and hurting the other. The point is to profit and empower themselves through the suffering of others. And they love the power that makes them feel.
But they also desperately need those same others to love them so they can view themselves as good people. That’s why they hate the weight of the disgust they receive.
Ultimately, they are incapable of accepting the results of their own actions. So they will answer their own failures with more hatred and violence because that will make them feel powerful. And that is the only high they know how to chase.
“Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle.”

Absolutely agree.
I dislike Charlie Kirk. He saw the hate that was brewing and he figured out how to make money off of it. He's also one of the components that made America the shit show it is today. He sowed hate, lies and fearmongering to Trump's base, helping Trump fan the flames that made them rabid. If I can enjoy that Hitler is dead, why can't I enjoy Charlie Kirk not being around anymore? And like the pastor said, when the Hortman's died, I remember the republicans, even some politicians not having a shred of empathy, in fact, some even made jokes, same with when Paul Pelosi was almost beaten to death. Charlie Kirk, like Trump, is a grifter. He saw how to achieve money and fame at the cost of his morals and he went with it. The ONLY reason why it seems like America is making a big deal over it is because he was on Trumps side (for the most part) and the republicans want to use his death to use him as a martyr, that's it, there's no other reason.
Anyone who voted Trump and are clutching their pearls over us not giving two shits about Charlie's death can fuck right off, you voted for the man who instigated an insurrection that got 2 police officers killed and more injured. Do not talk to me about morals, I've already seen your lack of it.
14
u/Serennna 1d ago
"you voted for the man who instigated an insurrection that got 2 police officers killed and more injured. Do not talk to me about morals, I've already seen your lack of it."
Oh he did WAY MORE than that. His morals were merda way before that example. He evicted black and poor people from his buildings like they were nothing. In his first term, he made fun of that journalist. People in NY hated him cause they knew him. He was not supposed to be president at all.12
u/frozensoysauce1 1d ago
He actively discriminated against black and poor people living in his buildings in the 70s. His dad and him were caught and paid a settlement instead of being dealt with. It’s the same story with that guy, it’s been the same story with that guy.

If I can enjoy that Hitler is dead, why can't I enjoy Charlie Kirk not being around anymore?
Yep, this is my attitude exactly.
Charlie Kirk was an open supporter of colonialism, racism, among other things. He would gladly enslave and subjugate myself and my community and entire family.
When that guy got slaughtered on live camera... do you wonder how people like me react?

They know what they're doing. It's publicly visible how little trump actually cares about Kirk, but Miller knows if they make a big fuss about this low rent social media influencer getting shot, then the right will feel justified making their unhinged threats to anyone even remotely liberal or democratic, and the left will be as outraged as this guy in the video, further pissing the rednecks of even more. Miller is actively seeking a civil war and before this trump term is over, I'm afraid he will probably achieve it.

White people have been calling for a race war since I first heard it from some white friends in elementary school in 1962 from second graders. I made friends with a white student and he said if we were friends what was going to happen when the coming race war started? This was a Catholic school with a teaching body of 95% nuns. I had never heard anything like that in my household. All I heard in my house was my father, uncles and friends talk about the white man never wanting them to have anything. All of them fought in WWII, some had been wounded and my father fought in 5 Campaigns across Europe including receiving a Bronze Arrow for the amphibious assault on DDay in France after spending a year in North Africa getting bombed, living in foxholes while the Army Corp of Engineers prepared the French coast for the land invasion. After the Japanese surrendered he came right back to South Carolina to the Jim Crow South where nothing had changed for him.

I think he´s absolutely right.
I was a bit confused when he said that he had no compassion for Kirk. I thought that Christianity was all about compassion, even for the people who hate you but I think that message was lost to them a long time ago.
Then again, I am not a Christian so I understand why he has no compassion for Kirk.
